It is beautiful, dark, red-brown with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of malt, fruit, caramel, citrus and peach. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, licorice, fruit, spruce, citrus and caramel. The finish is very long. It is a complex and interesting beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle... Clear dark-orange ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma is full of all kinds of malty, fruity, doughy goodness - chocolate chips, white cake batter, strawberry jam (Jeff hit it right on the nose with that description), dried apricot, sugar cookie and rumors of cinnamon and resin. Full-bodied and nearly chewy with lively carbonation. The flavor offers sweet, malty notes of white cake batter, graham and cookie dough accentuated and kept in check by moderate peppery bitterness. Finishes crisp and bittersweet with a gentle kiss of acidity. Very nice.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. Pours a dark maroon body with an almost non-existent tan head. Sweet fairly dark malty aroma with hints of red licorice, cherries, and other red fruits. Low carbonated, tangy, slightly bitter, red fruity, medium malty body. Sort of sour, sweet, and brown malty finish. Not as strong of flavor as most English Strong Ale.

Doesn’t look like much, laggerish light after initial foam.Somewhat cheesy aroma. The taste is somehwhat hoppy and refreshing. A natural casklike carbonation. Bit of light lemonlime aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear red amber topped by a medium tan head leaving admirable yellowish sheets of lace. Nose is at first mild cheesy hops. Taste is straightforward bitter and astringent with small red fruits and a lot of tannic tea character. Over slatted grain feel. Too astringent. Hop presence is older and cheesy. Feels like a DIPA gone wrong. Sweaty and blander taste. Stinging, sharp carbonation. Mild paper character.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from Systembolaget Kiruna, via djoeye. Crystal clear golden body, stable off-white head leaving crocheted lacing down the glass. Mixed aroma of dried fruits and brown malts. Flavoured with brown malts, almond, and herbal hops. Malt-fruity endnotes. Medium bodied. Clean in the mouth. Pleasant (shared with Finn, Tromsø 11.02.2015).

(Draught at Bishops Arms, Västra Hamngatan, Göteborg) Clear brown color, small tan to brown head. Fresh scent with a roasted touch. Hoppy bitter taste with some roasted coffee right in the beginning and then again in the aftertaste. Nice high bitterness. Medium mouthfeel.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
A gripping leafy hop presence surrounds the Ringwood-like yeasty butterscotch touch of this well-malted, quaffable English-style Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the dark copper.
-Carbonation is quiet, increasing this beer’s drinkability.
-Base malts offer a good cereal crunch which supports the caramel leanings.
-There is some light fruitiness throughout, although it does not affirm itself fully.
-The finishing hop bitterness is lengthy and very enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
6oz on tap at Noen’s. Totally hazy, darker amber red color. Thin off-white bubbly head. Couple bits of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Reasonably easy drinking. Toasty, caramel malts. Light spice. Moderate bitter taste. Moderate sweet. Light belgian yeast influence. Some euro type crisp hops. Solid, mildly hoppy belgian amber strongish winterish ale.
