Bottle. Bright orange-red, the head is thin but remarkably sticky. There isn’t too much of an aroma to talk about. The beer drinks with a nice, adhesive mouthfeel. It’s a well balanced blend of even-keeled mushy malt with a kiss of acidic bite at the finish. Enjoyable. (#5005, 5/5/2013)

Slightly hazy copper brown pour with a tall, chunky beige head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma of sweet toffee, fruity esters, citrus hops, nice floral notes, bready yeast and some toastiness. Flavor is a little more on the toasty side, roasted nuts, toast, crusty bread, dry hay, earthy, citrus, floral and pine hops. Light to medium body, off dry, somewhat creamy, but syrupy feel, moderate strength, blanketing and fairly sharp carbonaiton. Good stuff overall, very nice hop profile, that I wasn’t really expecting.

En bra julöl. Smak och doft av karamell, malt, humle, citrus en aning örter. Bra balans mellan sötma och beska. En klassiker.

Wittales (440) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - APR 10, 2013
Appearance was hazy light brown with diminishing creamy off white tiny head, little lacing. Aromas are slight sweet toffee malts with spicey noble hops, touch of eartheryness, no alcohol present. Taste was soft 2-row pale, caramel, toffee, crystal malts. Hops are noble in spicey, soft citrus with bready yeasty thing going on. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with medium body, then spicey soft citrusy average length off finish. Needs more balance for better finish.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a Unibroue snifter. A: This great looking beer is a deep red-orange-brown color, with a large off-white head that is exceptionally durable and leaves the glass well coated. Aroma: medium malts and a nice splash of hops, with hints of vanilla and light spices. T: The taste starts out malty and lightly sweet, with some caramel and brown sugar. The hops presence then kicks in creating a fairly well balanced mix. The after-taste is slightly bitter, bready, spicy and hoppy. M: Quite smooth; medium body; medium carbonation. O: A fine hoppy brown ale that will function as a Christmas Ale.

I like the ruby red pour with a huge tan head that leaves a lot of lacing. The aroma is a little fain almost metallicy. The mouthfeel is light and creamy and the beer is pretty well balanced. There isn’t really a wow factor in flavor however. There’s a hint of bitterness and a touch of maltiness but not much else. Decent.

2007: A reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a light earthy sweet malt with watery sugar. In mouth, a sweet grassy malt with nutty notes, light coffee, not bad, like a nut brown...6 years old but not oxidized. Tasted with GRM March 1 2013.

Songle bottle, Total Wine. Slightly hazy brown pour with a very slight ruby tinge and a big frothy head. Somewhat funky aroma - fruit and caramel notes but a little musty. Taste is pretty much malts and baking spices, a little grapefruit bitterness at the end. Medium body, silky mouthfeel. Highly sessionable.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear dark copper color with a mediumish head. Aroma with caramel malts and some hoppiness... pine, woody?. Taste of citrus peals.... grapefriuts, crispy and slightly dry. Some residual sweetnes from the malts. All together a very nice ale.

Amber with an off white head - good malt aroma with some caramel and there is some hop there as well - good malt body with some caramel, then the hop takes over with a nice bitterness that leads to a dry end - nice lingering hop dry finish - this was good
