Aroma: Fruity, vinous and malty.
Palate: Full body. Sweet and a mild bitterness. Soft to average carbonation.
Taste: Malty, vinous and fruity. Very well hidden alcohol.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 2/20
Bottle from systembolaget. The aroma is pretty unpleasant with an aroma of rotten fruit. Nice enough appearance with a clear deep ruby color, Sweet dark fruit flavour with a sour bit rotten finish. A pretty foul beer. Maybe mine is infected I don’t know, but my recomendation is to avoid.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Smelling of caramel, burned sugar, honey, apricots and orange marmalade.
Appearance: A hazy hazel to chestnut brew, a warm off-white head that settles quickly leaving no lacing, but has some curtains.
Taste: Burned sugar, caramel, butter scotch, apricot marmalade, orange peel.
Palate: Low carbonation, small bubbles, oily and sticky, a big body, a warm dry finish.
Overall: I had expected more Madeira. sherry and Marzipan. Should maybe have been kept a few more years.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Systembolaget in Nordstan, Gothenburg. Pours a deep brown-ruby clear body with a small white head. Nose is deep caramel, honey, smooth deep malts, hints of burnt sugar and alcohol. Smooth. Taste is smooth grainy caramel, roasty sugar tones, hints of licorice and toffee. Very nice blend, with a full-bodied and smooth palate. This is a very nice Barley Wine which has clearly benefited from being released 4 years after brewing. And to top it off: it’s ecological; one of the best I’ve had within that genre for sure. A very, very underrated brew in my opinion.
