COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Drinking from a 500 ml bottle. In the aroma (how surprising) chocolate, coffee. The unclear black beer has a medium/large brown head. Surprising is that the taste initially is mainly coffee. After that a very dark chocolate taste comes up. High carbonated.

Xavalias (160) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 23, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2014 Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with medium but short-lived beige head. Noe of dried fruits. Aroma has roasted to burnt malts: a bit of caramel, some chocolate, licorice. Sweet as promised, but with nothing to balance: low bitterness (mostly from roasted malts) or alcohol, light bodied, a bit watery. Borderline sickly. Long sickly-sweet finish.

Bottle, 50cl. Pours with a slight red hue, but mostly dark brown coloured with creamy, beige head that settles as a thin top. Aroma is roasted malty and chocolate, little apricots, dark fruits, wood, thin coffee along some odd unidentified sourness. Flavour starts sweet as expected, chocolate and roasted malt, turns into coffee-dominated bitterness. Dry, metallic finish. Sticky mouth-feel, light-medium bodied and soft carbonation. Bit too contrast-full without any proper balance for my taste.
