4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 17, 2005
One of the tastiest ales I’ve had in months. Utterly delicious. Enjoyed both in Odense, Denmark and at a picnic in New York’s Central Park. Each time, fabulous. It is extremely malty, opaque, full of yeast, moderately sweet and light on hops. Exactly what I look for in an ale. Further, the malt used (whatever it is) is exactly the flavor I love. If I could buy this beer again, I absolutely would. Shame I’m stuck in NYC and not back in lovely Denmark.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thebeertourist (4269) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 16, 2007
Bottle. Orangey amber, quite clear, small offwhite head. Nice raisins and toffee aroma. Sweet, raisins flavours, but with offsetting bitterness. Lighter body than expected, dryish ending. A nice surprise.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Adenila (1543) - DENMARK - MAR 25, 2007
Deep orange look with a dense small head. Aroma of orangepeels and sweet honey. Welbalanced medium bitter medium sweet flavor. Smooth palate. Best brew from ørbæk so far
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 koyama (3) - DENMARK - NOV 4, 2012 does not count
The foam has good stability. The aroma, slightly fruity. Tasting notes mild but quite surprising. It is clearly evident that it is a Christmas beer, while a beer that’s easy to enjoy a night out with the guys or for a dinner with good fried steak. The only detail or small adjustments that make it provides higher karaterer. It could have been spicier, but it is not a disappointment. However, it is also a good thing that it is a beer to be opened slowly. It creates a good atmosphere. Showered with too long even after an hour.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 LoveCaissa (873) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 17, 2002
Beautiful amber colour but little head. Nice aroma. Extremely pleasant flavour: slightly sweet (malts) and almost refreshing at the same time (oranges). Lightly bitter, somewhat bland, finish. Still, a very nice Christmas ale - and I believe the first Danish one available on bottles.
3.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChristianSA (368) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 16, 2004
Fine head, clear copper color. Very, very nice smell of sweet malt and caramel. Outstanding! The taste is a bit disappointing after the nose, but it is still OK, eventhough it seems to lack some flavour. Sweetness with some caramel and (munich) malt taste. As with many of the Ørbæk beers the mouthfeel is a bit thin or watery. An extremely quaffable beer - I could easily drink a lot of this.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dornoy (699) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 1, 2005
Almost no head on top of a beautiful ruby body. Stout, strong impression at first taste. Roasty, spicy, hints of sweet elements (chocolate?), very nice Christmas ale, a bit watery but overall very drinkable.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 3, 2006
Bottled (as Vinhandlerens Eget Brygg Crimson Ale). Amber colour, minor head. Aroma is apples, caramel, alcohol, plum and burnt sugar. Flavour is malty, sweet sugary as well as some balancing hops. Quite sour and acidic appleish overall, and especially aftertaste.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 13, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Clear, dark brown with a red glow and a fine head. Malty and nutty - all the typical ale characteristics. Very fruity and sweetish with a subdued bitterness. Low in carbonation. I wonder how different this brew REALLY is from the same brewery’s Brown Ale. 050103
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sigmund (4166) - Tau, NORWAY - NOV 30, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2006 Rerate, as "Vinhandlerens Eget Bryg Crimson Ale", RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. Jesus - is this REALLY the same beer?? Reddish (crimson) colour, low head. Vinous sweet & sour aroma and flavour. Not bad. Original rating: (330 ml bottle). Copper coloured, a slight haziness, moderate but relatively thick beige head. Malty sweet aroma, caramel. Flavour is again malty sweet with some caramel - definitely too sweet. One-dimensional. Thin mouthfeel despite the sweetness. The brewers claim they have used "organic grown hops" - maybe those hops were organic to a degree that they were left to rot on their stems, ’cause there sure is no trace that any of them have been used in this beer! Very disappointing. Rating 2.1
