downender (2528), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Feb 3, 2009 Bottle (@ 6.2% ABV) bought direct from the owner at the Bristol Slow Food Market, 1/2/09. Before I drank this, reviews referring to aromas of urine puzzled me. However, this began with a whiff of ammonia from a not very well maintained gents. Fortunately, things picked up with some spicy fruit, chunky barnyard sensations, and a parched, dry kick in the finish. A distinctive and enjoyable craft product. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Aug 25, 2008 @GBBF2008 (6.2% ABV). Hazy pale yellow colour, no head. Aroma is sour pear along with some mild vanilla. Flavour is perry and vanilla. Quite dry palate. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 8, 2008 Plastic cask at GBBF 08. It was 6.2% and on the sweet end of the scale, 2 out of 7, but it was the single varietal. Cloudy green gold. That’s a bit sharper. Decent pear fruit for a 2 on the sweetness. It’s quite sharp, bit of nail varnish. Settles down ok. dj (418), Gloucestershire, England Jun 22, 2008 On tap. A hazy straw colour. Aroma is light, sweet pear with a underlying trace of sourness. Taste has pears, a fair amount of citric sourness and some sweetness. A very drinkable perry. rauchbier (2992), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Jan 27, 2007 Tap, at GBBF 2005. Gold, minimal condition. Pear fruitiness, some phenols, cow shit and what I can only describe as rubber spider aromas, in the mouth the rubberiness remains although a fruity sweetness tries to fight it, very dry in the finish with some lingering solvent notes.
Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Oct 1, 2006 Had this at the National Cheese Festival, Montpellier, Cheltenham, 30-09-06 from the CAMRA Cider and Perry stand. Like some of the others state this is much darker than many other Perries, with a lovely pear aroma taste is quite intriguing it’s quite dry especially in the finish but wonderful pear and fruitiness and some woody notes that keep inviting you back for just another sip, really good Perry. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark Jan 8, 2006 Barrel, GBBF 2005:
Quite dark for a perry. Hefty kerosene aroma that inspires you with fear and respect. Gasoline notes in the flavour. Some parfume is noticable. Finish is very dry. An excellent perry. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 16, 2005 Strong alcohol, barnyard and appleskin aroma with a phenolic undertone. Hazy yellow gold and still with some legs on the glass. Strong pear flavour with plenty of woody tannins and a strong acidic undercurrent. Light dry body is somewhat slick on the teeth. Mild alcohol warming. Barrel at GBBF 2005.
