harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jan 9, 2006 This had been aged for 3 years according to the gentleman pouring behind the bar. This had an intersting hoppy yet, vinous aroma that leads inthe flavor, with a rich malt profile and that same vinous flavor that was in the aroma. Rich and complex with a chewy mouthfeel, a bit of an alcoholic finish, but still remains very smooth. Reminded me alot of John Hardy’s. Reid (1001), Salem, Oregon, USA Apr 9, 2005 Very limited edition balywine, one of the rarer in Oregon. This is aged at least two years, the final two months are in oak bourbon barrels, according to the person serving.
Very nice clear brown beer, small off white head.
Great vineous, woody aroma masking pleasant alcohol tones.
Great taste for one so strong, very woodsy but at the same time malty and skmooth, the hops compliment the alcohol well.
Very smooth on the tongue for a barleywine..excellent.
A very drinkable barleywine..so very smooth and easy going down.
A veritable classic of its style.
