The aroma is smokey (beech) but with only a light caramel malt note to back it up. Simple palate - I like it but that’s only because I’m a smoke whore. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Bottle says the ABV is 7.3, but it’s certainly well hidden either way. Deep, slightly cloudy garnet pour, with a crisp head. There’s not a ton of smoke in the aroma, though there are some pleasant malts. But it’s definitely there in the taste, with some campfire, slight sweet notes, a bit of pine, and some sharp licorice. Not a bad variation on a German rauch, with a PNW twist in the strong hop finish. jah noth (1023), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Hazy amber incolor with little head. Mild hickory aroma sits atop caramel sweetness. Crisp amber malt flavor is married with delicate smokiness. Some light hops balance the smokiness. This is a nice surprise and a real great beer. jcwattsrugger (5583), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

A deep amber color with a tihck head. The beer had a smokey aroma and deep rich malts. The flavor was that of a good amber beer with smoked malts. The malts and flavors whee very deep and a good mild balance. This was a good over all beer to drink. raphael (424), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2007 (bottle says 7.3% alcohol) my nose puts together the smoke & brown sugar aromas & comes up with ham (cloves too, like mom baked it). thin beige head over a clear, dark amber body. light and easy on the tongue, with continuing aroma. the taste is smoke, apple, caramel malt. almost sweet while quickly drying the tongue. cleanly done, but a little dull. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Bottle: Dark caramel, quite thick and hazy, large foamy off-white head, sticky lacing. This is probably one of the better looking Smoked beers I have seen. Straight up smoked malts, slight peated malt, slight campfire or charred wood. Very simple, yet very good. No bacon like other examples which is a plus! Smooth smoked malt, fairly meaty. Wow! I gotta say, so far one of my favorites in the style! Underlying caramel malts, very pale tho. Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full. Very smooth. Soft lingering charred wood and campfire. Very clean. Simple, yet elegant. Nothing out of the ordinary, but extremely solid! Recommended if you don’t like your Smoked beers tasting like ashtrays or bacon..

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2006 Picked up a bottle of this in Eugene. This was a really nice smoke beer. Pours very clear copper/amber color with a long lasting white head. Very rich smoke nose that blends well with a sweet caramel malt note. Throughout this beer really just blended well, never a harsh dry smokiness, just sweet smoke that trailed off in the finish nicely.
