Draft at the brewery. Very acidic and sharp - and we found out why from one of the assistant brewers. They use certain type of malt (the exact name slips my mind) that alone has a very sharp, bitter citrus-like flavor... strange for sure, but it gives this witbier a flavor like it’s been mixed with concentrated lemon juice... which is actually REALLY tasty, since it sort of mimics a lambic sourness. This wit had it all: a bust of active, peppy lemon and wheat zest followed by a sweet fruit and creamy body. Unique if nothing else.

Taster - Oregon Trail Brewing - Corvallis, OR
Aroma – Nice malt flavoring with the added orange peel this beer took off.
Appearance – Light Straw in color, Thin head and hazy.
Flavor – Huge wheat malt flavor and adding the strong orange peel flavor this was a great beer.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – Loved the fruitiness of this beer the wheat malt was great and the additions of the fresh orange peel added to this beer. One of the best for tasting today.

Tasted on Tap at 2005 OBF. Light gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, touch of banana. A medium to full bodied wit. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch of banana and clove. Hints of citrusy hops. Coriander and orange peel. Touch spritzy. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Sampled draught at Old World Deli/Oregon Trail Brewing, Corvallis
Yellow hazy appearance with light head, some lacing. Nose of citrusy clove, detergent & fruity hops. The flavor is nutty & rich with malts. Doughy finish, crisp, clean, good.

This was my least favorite out of all the tastings I sampled. Did not really come across as a witbier, but just more of a spicy wheat based ale. Some nice, yeasty clove notes, a little bit of banana and some other lingering spices in the finish. Overall an interesting mixture of sweet and sour.

Clear yellowy/golden beer, with a small bubbly white head. Has attractive carbonation strngs. Slightly spicy on the aroma, with a hint of orange,. Again in the taste the spice shows up and the slight citric taste, the wheat taste is evident, carbonation feels good. On the palte its pretty average fir the style. It was a hot day in Corvallis and this one went down rather well.

Pours cloudy yellow with white head. Mild aromas of spices. Flavor is dry. Body is thin but with just the right carbonation gives it a nice round mouthfeel, almost creamy.
