4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma:Sweet caramel and dark fruits. A little Belgian character.
Appearance:Black, with low amount of head.
Taste:Dark fruits on the foretaste, quickly leading into a sour oak or wine barrel flavor in the midtaste. It’s not supposed to be barrel aged, so if it’s from an infection, the brewery really lucked out.
Palate:Medium body with low carbonation. A little tangy.
Overall:A solid belgian strong dark, with a good bit of complexity.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2013 Pours an almost pitch black color with very little head. Big aroma of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, and belgian yeast. Taste is closer to a wine than a beer. Very sweet, almost like liquid candy. A nice carbonation helps so that the sweetness does not overpower. Long finish of caramel and belgian yeast. Reminds me a lot of a Unibroue beer. A very good Belgian Strong and worth seeking out.
