On draught at Original Joe’s in Winnipeg. Fairly bland red ale, easy drinking - but not interesting. Not bad for a house beer on special though.

Pours a clear reddish amber with a small off white head that leaves good lace. Aroma of caramel, nuts, mild grassy hops and some floral esthers. Taste is caramel, munich type malts, nuts and a bit of hop bitterness. Nice and refreshing red ale but nothing too wild.

Pint on tap at Original Joe’s downtown Edmonton pours amber in color with a small white head that leaves little lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and grains. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with a mild hop bitterness. Below average brew for the style. Not recommended.

On tap, Original Joe’s Medicine Hat. Medium amber with a red-orange hue and a thin head that recedes to nothing within 5 minutes. Aroma is sweet, with cotton candy notes on top of caramel. Mild caramel flavour.

Amber colour. It was a bit sweet and fruity smelling with a nice sweet flavour, but not really all that special.

The best of the Original Joe’s beers. Red amber colour, not much head. Faint sweet aroma. Taste is fruity and malty, but not much going on here. Mediocre at best.

pintbypint (2379) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 5, 2012
Pint at OJ’s downtown Edmonton. Deep orange pour with a weak white foam. Nose has light caramel, grainy, overall pretty flat. Taste starts with some light caramel, slight lemon note, grainy middle. Just a light grass note at the end. Grainy aftertaste. Average body and carbonation. Drinkable but average Canadian styled red ale. $5.95 for 20oz, ok price point.
