Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.

Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.

Väldigt speciell. Syrlig och faktiskt ganska frisk. Funkar nog bättre till mat än som sällskap.

500ml bottle. Hazy golden with tiny head vanishing to leave no trace whatsoever. Fresh, slightly sour funky aroma dominated by salt and cilantro. Fresh, somewhat acidic taste with soft, fresh cilantro and some (rocky) saltiness. Light mouthfeel, light carbonation. Very refreshing.

Pours an almost clear medium gold with lager-like white head. Aroma of apple juice concentrate, some tart berries or fruits, malts and a hint of stable or barnyard. The palate is medium bodied with not much sticking out in any direction. There's a hint of saltiness, a hint of sweetness, a hint of acidity. It's all very mild and nothing is taking charge. The finish is medium-. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. Hazy orange, small head of aggressive small bubbles. Sour aroma of yeast and white bread. Tastes eerily good, smooth lemon, green apple, pilsner malt, salt and funk. Long balanced finish. This is quality !!

1 pint .9 oz bottle, poured into a tulip glass at about 45 degrees F. Appearance: Pours a clear deep burnished straw gold, like good natural apple cider, and forms a couple fingers of bright white head with good retention. There’s enough carbonation visible streaming through the glass to raise global mean temperature by .01 degree C. Smell: Pale biscuity malt meets sea salt air and mild musty mildew funk. Some hints of tart citrus waft through the aroma as well. Taste: The flavor profile opens with a rush of salt and funk, which fades to let biscuit and tart lemon-orange citrus through. There’s a faint touch of white grape and underripe green apple as well, and the finish leaves the citric tartness lingering beside the mildew funk and salt. Mouthfeel: Light and quite bubbly, this nails the "refreshing beer" feel. Overall: I can see why this is one of the beers generally recommended as a staple example of the style. This is a nice, well-executed gose, not too overdone on the salt or sour aspects, with a pleasant depth of character. Will repeat.

On tap at Hawthornes. Nothing what I was expecting. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a white head. Spice in the aroma and a bit of tartness. The flavor had a hint of lemon with the spice. Lively feel with a nice after taste.

Bottle shared by Brian, thanks! Pours a near clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy wheat with coriander and a touch of tartness. Flavor has a bit more tartness with a strong earthy wheat and a some corriander.
