COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting beer that was first brewed in 1824 – it’s the special beer of Leipzig! The Gose is an own, very old type of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law because Gose is much older than it. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with a special yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by lactate fermentation during the maturing.
World Beer Awards London: World’s Best Gose 2013, Europe’s Best Gose 2014
Brewed by Hartmansdorf until 2014, brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015

Bottle. Pours a clear light copper body with a small fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is lightly sweet and sour with a little spiciness and salt water brine. The light lactic note is vaguely reminiscent of a Gueuze. The flavor is quite well balanced between the lactic sourness and the saltiness. An underlying sweetness throughout, some light but noticeable coriander on the finish. Rather bright and thirst quenching with a soft gentle carbonation level. Pretty nice beer, not a style that I would crave with regularity, but a nice change of pace

Tap at CK thanks to craftycarl21! Low haze golden pour. Medium weak foam. Thick, dense honey nose. Salty honey taste with good buoyancy, richer. Nice refreshing palate, mild lemonade. Really nice. Not really sour at all but very clean and actually salty unlike many goses that never deliver.

Sample from bottle at the Vaaland stand at Nærbø Ølfestivalen 2013. Misty golden body with a faint white film. Grains and grass on the nose. Sweet and sour flavors with a nice cereal finish. Medium bodied. Clean mouth. An impression of freshness not dissimilar from Berliner Weisse.
