COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermenting, sour and slightly salty tasting special beer of Leipzig. The Gose is an own, very old beer type and does not correspond to the German purity requirement. It is brewed traditionally with coriander and salt - thereby and by the additional lactic acid fermentation her quite special characteristic gets the Gose. It has certain resemblances to the Lichtenhainer beer as well as to the Belgian Geuze.

ON DRAFT. Slightly cloudy yellow orange pour. Aroma of grapes, honey, sweet barley. Tastes sour grapefruit grapes, with a wheaty finish. Slight brine. Crisp acidic palate. More smooth and sessionable than the average gose.

Bottle. Hazy yellow colour with a white head. Sourish/tart, yeasty, lactic, lemon juice, coriander, salty. Light body. Interesting and quite refreshing, but one bottle at a time is enough for me.

Bottled sample. Gold in colour with spritzy carbonation. Aromas are of malted wheat, salt water, and lemon. An unusual juxtaposition of acidic lemon and salt in the mouth. Perhaps a bit of earthy or peppery notes mixed in too, along with a definite malted wheat note that lingers on the palate. I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first, but it seems to be growing on me. Glad I finally got to try it.

Bottle at Beergeek courtesy of Jirka. Poours hazy Orange with a beige head. Unusual mix of malt and citrus. Slightly tangy acidity. A very peculiar mix. The salty component is strangely refreshing and works well.

Bottle as shown thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy gold with no head. The aroma is coriander, citrus, and salt. Thin mouthfeel with nice citrus, light salt, tart finish. Very good.
