COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermenting, sour and slightly salty tasting special beer of Leipzig. The Gose is an own, very old beer type and does not correspond to the German purity requirement. It is brewed traditionally with coriander and salt - thereby and by the additional lactic acid fermentation her quite special characteristic gets the Gose. It has certain resemblances to the Lichtenhainer beer as well as to the Belgian Geuze.

Cloudy golden pour with a thick white head. Solid aroma of salt, sourness, wheat, mild citrus. Very good flavor of sourness, wheat, salt and citrus. The body is medium to full with an oily texture and soft carbonation. This is very interesting.

500 ml bottle. Hazy honey gold color. No head. Aroma is like a gauze pad with grainy malts. Tart salty flavor. Very unique flavor. Quite refreshing. Very much an acquired taste.

Bottle shared by Brian, thanks! Pours a near clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy wheat with coriander and a touch of tartness. Flavor has a bit more tartness with a strong earthy wheat and a some corriander.

Bottle. Yellow-gold pour with a minor head. Salty, coriander, wheat, and mild citrus. Crisp and lively on the tongue, slightly sour. Very good.

Aroma: Citrus zest with a sort of earthy resin with slight alcohol. Weak scent until swirled Appearance: Golden cloudy with tiny hint of amber minimal head Taste: Not sweet and lightly bitter. Medium sour with wine acidity Palate: Light Body. Slick texture. Soft Carbonization. Wine and salt finish. Overall a refreshing enjoyable beer.

pinkish-orangish-amber. White head, fades very quickly to nothing. Smells like a light lager: a slightly tart hay and grass. Body is watery with a touch of syrup, light, semi-fine carbonation with a moderate burn. Flavor is tart lactic and wheat grain. Finish a tartness bordering on reminiscent of pickles. An OK Gose, a bit too tart for me.

4.2% on tap at Luppulo 12. My first German Gose a lovely cloudy honey gold with a foamy white head. A sour salty funky nose. Light bodied but wow what flavor! Salt, yoghurt, tart, lactic, wheat, think an amped up salty sour Yakult. Great. The nose is so so but the taste is phenomenal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I first tasted this beer 7-8 years ago at the Berlin beer festival. I thought it was a very nice beer and quite enjoyed it. Unfortunately, Ritterguts has changed its contract brewer and the recipe. The beer is quite simply no longer a Gose. It may come close to a Berliner Weiße, but it lacks both the salt and coriander that are characteristic of a Gose. The beer is quite drinkable, but it is mis-labelled.

Tasapainoinen maku.

Appearance: deeper gold than I expected, largely clear, short and quickly vanishing near-white head. Aroma: typical gose aroma of green apples, lemon zest, cracked wheat, light white wine vinegar, and coriander--that is to say, very enticing. Taste: again, pretty typical gose characteristics, with maybe a bit more salt than usual. Finish: pleasant rush of activated glands at the jawline, lingering lacto tartness over some salt and crackers. Notes: Perfect example of one of my new favorite styles. Where have you been all my life? Bottle from Knightly Spirits, Orlando, Florida.

Bottle from House Beer. Gold pour thin white head. Aroma of tart and light spice. Tastes of green apple, salty, lemon, light tart, yogurt. Nice, easy.
