Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermenting, sour and slightly salty tasting special beer of Leipzig. The Gose is an own, very old beer type and does not correspond to the German purity requirement. It is brewed traditionally with coriander and salt - thereby and by the additional lactic acid fermentation her quite special characteristic gets the Gose. It has certain resemblances to the Lichtenhainer beer as well as to the Belgian Geuze.

Horrible! Not my style I guess. Ordinary lager beer aroma. The taste is like a lager beer with salt...

Bottle. Hazy golden pour with small lacings on top. Nose has yoghurt, light lacto, some lemon and cereal. Taste has again yoghurt, lemon juice, light tartness and light bitterness. This was really good!

Con questa temperatura, e con questa bassa gradazione, una birra del genere comincerei a berla alla mattina, e finirei non so quando. Molto ma molto godibile!!!

Bottle. Moderate grain and hay for the malt, light lemon for the hops, light mustiness for the yeast, with hints of coriander and vinegar. Head is small and fizzy, and is quickly diminshing and no lacing. Color is hazy amber. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic, sour and salty. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a tart finish. Not very appealing to the eye, but this Gose has a Berliner Weisse tartness with a great refreshing flavor and palate.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy golden yellow pour with a small, quickly-dissipating white head. Sweet, slightly sour aromas of apple juice and light spices. Flavour is sweet light fruits with a sour and salty edge. Very refreshing and well balanced. Quite drinkable and definitely enjoyable, but nothing incredible.

In short: A tart and moderately-salty wheat beer with a rural character. By-the-book Gose. Tasty and very refreshing.
How: Bottle 500ml, didnít note the age of the bottle, many months old.
The look: Partly cloudy amber body topped by a medium off-white head that quickly recedes to a ring of foam that doesnít leave lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is a bit minerals-salty, it also has a semi-wild lacto-ish farmhouse character, low-profile citrus fruits and bananas. In mouth the beer is more corpulent than you expect a 4.2% beer to be, abundant carbonation, a texture that is a bit on the juicy side, ok mouthfeel. Taste has nice semi-dry semi-toasted wheat with an overall crispiness. A assertive and very refreshing lemony-grapefruity tartness. Mild-medium acidity. It is salty but a bit less than average compared to the Goses Iíve had (but I havenít had many). Other spicy notes of coriander and white-pepper can be found here and there. The beer is very refreshing but the tartness is commanding enough to prevent taking big sips. An underrated nice beer, but Iím not gonna lose sleep over how underrated this fine beer is, I have more important things to worry about, like staying awake all night wondering if the ice-cream I just ate will make me pee or poop.

500 ml bottle. Served in a mug, the beer pours a hazy dark gold color with about a half inch off-white head that didnít stick around for too long. Thereís a small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice and tart, the brew smells like tart fruit (citrus, apple), wheat, peaches, and some salty herbalness. It tastes like lemon/lemon peel, wheat, earthy herbalness, salt, tart peaches, and tart apples. Moutfheel/body is light/medium, itís tart and refreshing with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, good thing for me I bought 2 bottles! $5.79 a bottle.
