Can 350ml (BB 08/2006)
Pale yellow, mostly vanishing head. Corn aroma and boiled vegatables. Sweet corn, mushrooms and vegetables also in flavor. Really awful, can’t be like this as fresh?

Bottle at a Japanese restaurant in Flushing during US Open. Grainy nondescript lager. Grassy, corny, Budweisery, kind of sweet.

500ml can BB 12/2016 from Tokyo Liquor in Newmarket. Slight grainy aroma. Gold with good head. Mild bitterness with grainy thin finish. A touch of wet cardboard too. OK but nothing startling.

12 oz can into a shaker pint at Sushi Den. Clear golden appearance with a fluffy white head. Aroma of grains, light hops and a hint of corn. Similar flavor, adding light to mild malt sweetness and light bitterness. A little bland and boring overall, but it is pretty crisp, light and easy to drink I suppose.

Super bright golden colour. Corny aroma. Taste is overly sweet. This would be better on an Okinawan beach.

Can from FairPrice in Singapore. This is better than some other lagers I’ve had in the area, but by no means is it good. A little cleaner, maybe some sweet grains poking through, but still bland and boring.

Draft. A- Sweet grains, cereal. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Sweet grains, subtle straw, subtle citrus. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, refreshing finish. O- Had with some Okinawan food. Actually pretty refreshing and not skunky at all.

22oz bottle shared with my wife on 26th May 2016: poured into two La Chouffe badged tulips at our daughters. Last white crowns on both glasses, the beers body a light golden affair. Mild orange and herbal notes in the nose and taste, although the aroma was very, very weak. Refreshing but a little uninteresting and a typical International Lager/Pilsner in so much as being clean, clear and clinical in looks and flavour.

I’ve had this numerous times over the years, but noticed on my recent trip to Okinawa that this has got markedly better (not sure if the recipe changed). Also the quality of the beer I had on draft varied fairly significantly, but overall, I can say this is my second favorite Japanese mainstream beer now. At its peak condition this shows great toasted malt and cereal character with a rich malty backbone. I will rate for what I think my overall experience was with the beer, but at its best its a good 3.4/3.5 range
