2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
23-May-08 (633-ml bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $2.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Nothing too special with this Asian beer. Rice and bready sweetness are the principle flavors, but there’s a hint of spicy, mildly bitter hops in the background, plus a mild, lemony tartness in the finish. The beer shows better balance as it warms up, and this increases enjoyment and drinkability. Along with the standard rice, cardboard and adjuncty aromas, there’s also some lemongrass and peppery spice, so all is not lost in that department either. On the palate, it’s light in body, medium-high in carbonation, and somewhat refreshing from the lemony tartness. Golden-yellow in color with brilliant clarity. The fizzy, white head pours fairly bubbly and dissipates rapidly. Overall, I wasn’t impressed by the beer when it was cold, but it’s actually not a bad-tasting beer. However, it’s not enjoyable enough to purchase again.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draught in Naha. Light macro lager profile, not much different from the normal version. Refreshing at best, matches ok with the local food and weather I guess but water works fine too :)

1.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Drank as a draught. Your usual lager, not that much taste. Feels quite refreshing when drank from an ice cold glass.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear yellow gold. Dissipating white head. Mostly malty to me. Sweet. Light body. Refreshing. Nothing interesting or exciting. Not too strongly flavored. It did its job between pieces of sushi.

Can in Hongkong. Pale metallic beginning. Not too deep, grainy-fresh, metallic without deepness. Boring grainy beer with a harsh bitterness.

3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Soft wet wheat smell. Urine sample yellow with similar head. Smooth wheat front with nice crisp clean finish. Very clean on the finish, very refreshing. Nothing blows your mind but I well ballanced and so clean it’s does not over shadow flavors of delicate foods.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rating against the other majors, not craft beers of course, this scores high. Light on flavor, but doesn’t feel cheap or fake. Done well, easy to drink. Nice aftertaste.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Classic Japanese pale lager. Light grassy and grainy aromas. Active carbonation, tastes of cardboard and grain. Light body and watery mouthfeel. Dry finish. True to style, but unfinishable for me at this point.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Clear light golden body. Fizzy white head, diminishing. Light aroma of raw grain, herbs, hint of vegetables. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Light grassy taste mixed in with vegetable and light sulfur. A inoffensive pale lager with little character.
