23-May-08 (633-ml bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $2.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Nothing too special with this Asian beer. Rice and bready sweetness are the principle flavors, but there’s a hint of spicy, mildly bitter hops in the background, plus a mild, lemony tartness in the finish. The beer shows better balance as it warms up, and this increases enjoyment and drinkability. Along with the standard rice, cardboard and adjuncty aromas, there’s also some lemongrass and peppery spice, so all is not lost in that department either. On the palate, it’s light in body, medium-high in carbonation, and somewhat refreshing from the lemony tartness. Golden-yellow in color with brilliant clarity. The fizzy, white head pours fairly bubbly and dissipates rapidly. Overall, I wasn’t impressed by the beer when it was cold, but it’s actually not a bad-tasting beer. However, it’s not enjoyable enough to purchase again.

Can from FairPrice in Singapore. This is better than some other lagers Iíve had in the area, but by no means is it good. A little cleaner, maybe some sweet grains poking through, but still bland and boring.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
22oz bottle shared with my wife on 26th May 2016: poured into two La Chouffe badged tulips at our daughters. Last white crowns on both glasses, the beers body a light golden affair. Mild orange and herbal notes in the nose and taste, although the aroma was very, very weak. Refreshing but a little uninteresting and a typical International Lager/Pilsner in so much as being clean, clear and clinical in looks and flavour.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Iíve had this numerous times over the years, but noticed on my recent trip to Okinawa that this has got markedly better (not sure if the recipe changed). Also the quality of the beer I had on draft varied fairly significantly, but overall, I can say this is my second favorite Japanese mainstream beer now. At its peak condition this shows great toasted malt and cereal character with a rich malty backbone. I will rate for what I think my overall experience was with the beer, but at its best its a good 3.4/3.5 range

1 pt. 5.4 oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy golden with a thin white head that dissipated quickly. Crisp taste of Pilsner malt with a smooth finish and balanced acidity. Average carbonation, thin body.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Light golden with a modest off-white head. Plenty of grain, and light fish oil scent. Very sweet and grainy. Some herbal bitterness brings it back late in the quaff. Dry old malt finish. A thicker feel. A heavy pale lager.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light sweet grain aroma. Clear pale golden body with a bright white soap bubbly head about an inch thick. The head lingers a good time compared to others this style. Mild bitterness which is offset by a sweet grain taste. Light bodied and has a crisp refreshing finish.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A golden beer with a huge white head. The aroma has notes of straw and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and citrus fruits, leading to bitter finish.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On draft in Naha.
L: pours a very pale straw, clear, minimal carbonation, big creamy white head.
S: almost no aroma, just cereal, wheat, mustiness, macro lager malt.
T: tastes wheaty somewhat, light cereal, quite peppery yeast in the middle that quenches nicely, ends rather aqueous.
F: very light and crisp, meant to be cold.
O: just another macro lager. Enjoy with your Okinawan cuisine on a hot night.
