2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
23-May-08 (633-ml bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $2.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Nothing too special with this Asian beer. Rice and bready sweetness are the principle flavors, but there’s a hint of spicy, mildly bitter hops in the background, plus a mild, lemony tartness in the finish. The beer shows better balance as it warms up, and this increases enjoyment and drinkability. Along with the standard rice, cardboard and adjuncty aromas, there’s also some lemongrass and peppery spice, so all is not lost in that department either. On the palate, it’s light in body, medium-high in carbonation, and somewhat refreshing from the lemony tartness. Golden-yellow in color with brilliant clarity. The fizzy, white head pours fairly bubbly and dissipates rapidly. Overall, I wasn’t impressed by the beer when it was cold, but it’s actually not a bad-tasting beer. However, it’s not enjoyable enough to purchase again.

Not much aroma. Lighter yellow color, no cloudiness of course. Lighter fragrant start and light finish

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A golden beer with a huge white head. The aroma has notes of straw and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and citrus fruits, leading to bitter finish.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On draft in Naha.
L: pours a very pale straw, clear, minimal carbonation, big creamy white head.
S: almost no aroma, just cereal, wheat, mustiness, macro lager malt.
T: tastes wheaty somewhat, light cereal, quite peppery yeast in the middle that quenches nicely, ends rather aqueous.
F: very light and crisp, meant to be cold.
O: just another macro lager. Enjoy with your Okinawan cuisine on a hot night.

500ml can into shaker. Can says ’Orion Draft Beer’. Distant hop nose. Clear golden amber beer with fluffy white head. Medium carbonation. Clean mineral taste and feel. Finish has a slight tang, a touch of metal then a finishing wave of sweet malt. Not bad, easy drinking and a little different to other Asian lagers.

For your Happy time indeed!
Can from a strangely set up convenience store in Tainan, Taiwan.
Bright, medium gold with a short-lived fluff. Drabby, steamed cabbage nose with little else. So sweet it’s cloying. Featherweight body gives the perception of airiness but it resides far too long. Chalky, pasty feel and taste. Really not good at all. No hops, Light floral note seems more chemical than natural. Astringent peak. Meh!!! (35cL can, BBE 05/16, Puro [?], Hai’an Road, Tainan, Taiwan)

Can with Jan-Hein in Tokyo. I have also had in Okinawa 15 years ago. Gold body with big head. Nose is sweet, malts. Taste predictable of wheat, malts. Lageresque. Decent.

Clear, yellow-golden colored, small white head. Aroma is malt, rice and grassy. Taste is low sweet malt, rice, corny notes, veggies, some hay. Light, watery texture, soft carbonation. Quite dull...

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
From the bottle, the pour is golden Tempe with a thin white head, the aroma is similar to bud light, the taste is an ale but not a deep complex flavor, ok for an ale on a hot day but nothing making it better than a us beer

Bottle from Mollie Stone in San Mateo, CA. Slight corn / floral nose. Frothy mouthfeel. Very light but clean, cereal grain and honey finish. Do people in japan have lawnmowers? Somebody submit this to Quora for me.

Used to drink this all the time when I was on Okinawa. About what you’d expect from a macro lager. Nothing at all special.
