Cask at JDW. Vibrant orange with plenty of lacing spun. Nice hints of spices like ginger and cinnamon atop a base of orangey marmalade and light caramel. Not exactly a Christmas pudding in a glass but there’s something festive about it. Decent stuff.

The Briar Rose, Brum. Odd, coniferous, buttered spruce needle flavour with citrus oil and resiny hints. Cream-capped ruby. Shortbread and margarine on the snout with good sprucey..hop? Could be spruce. Butterkist linger. Some oatmeal and berries. Pretty weird, but kind of in the Xmas tradition.

Cask. Christmas Eve. Slightly opaque dark rust ale with a thin off-white top. Nose is quite non existent besides a little cinnamon spice if you try hard. Different story in the mouth, with bags of flavour. Really tastes like a pudding with doughyness, some currants, a little cinnamon, dried fruits. Quite tasty and an easy drinker.
