Bottle from Tesco Galashiels. Nose is an interesting mix of dried fruit, spice and citrus hops. Medium to full in body, good malty flavours with an underlying spice/hop character. A pleasant seasonal brew!

McWorta (999) - LUXEMBOURG - JUN 20, 2015
Light copper colour, clear with a beige fine poring head with good lacings. Aromas of raisin-fruit-cake, ginger bread, cinnamon, clove, orange and mulled wine develops. Light lively, smooth, full bodied. Malty, fruit sweetness with light alcohol aromatic raisin flavours and a noticeable ginger spiceyness paired with a light bitterness. Lightly spiced up medium finish. Excellent with chocolate muffins!

A little too heavy for my tastes. Malt drowns out all other tastes. Not a subtle beer.

Cask at the Briar Rose, Birmingham. Sweet booming Bitter. Seems appropriate for the Christmas season and is intended to be so. Some nice allspice notes and gliding smoothness.

Bottle from Royal Mile Whiskies. Clear amber body with a thin white head. No visible carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of Christmas pudding, fig and a faint hint of rum. Flavour of ginger, lightly roasted malt and honey. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Subtle and tasty - I don’t think I couldn’t drink more than one in a sitting though. Maybe better suited to cask.

Cask handpull at County Hotel jdw Ashford. Clear dark amber colour lasting thin white head. Some spice on aroma. Spice and malt in the flavour. Finish has little hop presence. Condition is ok. Too much spice for me even though it’s not overly spiced.

Slight spicy aroma. Looks well with nice head. Amber colour. Ginger caramel taste. Definitely clootie dumpling as my mother made it. Wee bit of a kick on palate. Nice one. Will drink again

500ml bottle from Tesco. Flavour is a bit thin but all the spices are there plus some orange zest. Definitely tastes like ’clootie’ but would benefit from having a bit more depth in flavour.
