Commercial Description:
"The nose on this beer is ripe and fruity with slightly vinous esters, married to interesting hop notes - the colour of a glorious red ruby wine."

Bottle at No. 5. Brown with a light brown head. Aroma moderate/heavy malty (caramel, roasted, licorice, smoke, dark fruits). Flavor heavy sweet, light bitter. Thin, watery.

Pours a very dark brown that shows some dark ruby tints when held to light. Minimal tan-nish head falls fairly quickly. Nose is that woody syrupy sweet thickness. Pretty traditional stuff. Seems like there are some coffee grind tones on the end too. Flavor tastes like bitter old coffee at first but calms down to only a fairly bitter tone. As it warms it becomes more pleasant and some firm peat tones really start to appear. Leaves a smoked, peaty like aftertaste in the mouth. Feel has a thick liquid body and a good level of carbonation. Overall a decent brew. If you drink it too soon without letting it warm up, don’t expect as much as you should be getting.

Very dark ruby, no head. Aroma is malty, with caramel, toffee, dark fruits. Taste is caramel, light maltiness, very light hops in the background with a hint of smoke. Good session brew.

1pt Bottle: Poured a picture perfect jet black with a light but fastly dissipating light brown head. Aroma is light malty with a heavy scent of dark chocolate. Goes down quite easy.

Very dark, almost like a stout in color. Wonderful flavors of smoke, whisky, chocolate, coffee, toffee, and pit fruits. Given the depth and darkness of flavor, would have expected a heavier body. I look forward to trying this closer to the source when I visit the Orkneys in May. 500ml bottle from Greenlife

Black pour that forms a tall creamy tan head. Aroma is smoky, slightly bitter, and a bit chocolaty. Flavor is very subtle and well balanced. Kind of a roasted flavor, sweet and toffee like, with a crisp pleasant finish. This is quite enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to Paul. The beer pours to a really deep mahogany brown body with a medium creamy tan head. The aroma is smoked milk chocolate. Delicate subtleties going on. Very aromatic. The flavor is subtle tobacco, walnuts, smoked malt, powdered chocolate. Very balanced and nice. The palate is dry, medium bodied, and yet refreshing. Nice texture.

Dark brown pour small light tan head decent lacing. Aroma is a bit smoky touches of some earthy notes some light roast malts and a hint of chocolate. Palate is pretty average. Flavor is surprisingly light a bit dry on the tongue w/ a smokey almost smoked salmon taste a touch of char in the after taste then some sweet molasis and a light chocolate that goes well in a very subdued drink. Nice beer.
