Commercial Description:
"The nose on this beer is ripe and fruity with slightly vinous esters, married to interesting hop notes - the colour of a glorious red ruby wine."

Bottle thanks to Paul. The beer pours to a really deep mahogany brown body with a medium creamy tan head. The aroma is smoked milk chocolate. Delicate subtleties going on. Very aromatic. The flavor is subtle tobacco, walnuts, smoked malt, powdered chocolate. Very balanced and nice. The palate is dry, medium bodied, and yet refreshing. Nice texture.

Dark brown pour small light tan head decent lacing. Aroma is a bit smoky touches of some earthy notes some light roast malts and a hint of chocolate. Palate is pretty average. Flavor is surprisingly light a bit dry on the tongue w/ a smokey almost smoked salmon taste a touch of char in the after taste then some sweet molasis and a light chocolate that goes well in a very subdued drink. Nice beer.

Great aroma fairly nice look, but tasted like burnt wood! When I took the first sip I was alittle taken back on what I just purchased. The fruits and hops give it a unique taste of burnt wood, but the beer does smell exactly how it tastes!

Dark brown body with a foamy light tan head. The aroma is of smoked fish and dark rye bread. Dry, smooth mouthfeel. Tangy roast malt, dried raisin, and bitter wood. This beer could use some more residual sugars.

Dark brown with a nice head. The first flavours are coffee, caramel, chocolate, malt and a suitable bitterness. Even if it’s not as intense as a stout/porter, my thoughts are taken in that direction. The finish has a nicely balanced bitterness and notes of chocolate and caramel.

taste is very good with delightful smooth light palate after drinking; nice aroma, would improve slightly with a little higher alcohol content.

Very dark brown in color, like the scottish wee heavy style. I had no idea that this was an old ale. The aroma is a straightforward scotch whisky with hints of smoke and peat and loads of roasted malt. Flavor is very complex, but very fresh and easily drinkable and refreshing. Surprising for the style. With as much complexity, you usually have to take your time. I did not... Loads of vanilla.

Nothing really special about this nice beer. A little bit of sweetness on the palate gives way to a smokey, chocolatey, carmelish flavor that reminded me more of a smoked porter than a Scottish Ale. Aroma is malty sweet, perhaps a bit fruity and gives you no early signs of what is to comes when the beer his your tastebuds. Very nice beer.
