"The nose on this beer is ripe and fruity with slightly vinous esters, married to interesting hop notes - the colour of a glorious red ruby wine."

Bottle. Roasty, slightly burned taste but quite lowkey flavour. It pours as dark brown with a minimal head. A medium sourness, long finish.

Bottled. Pours a very dark brownish/ruby sort of color. Roasted malty aroma. Slightly sweet with a little chocolate as well. Slightly sweet up front with a burnt, roasted, malty flavor. Roasted bitter malty finish.

[Bottle- Liquid Solutions] Avery deep dark black color. A thick head and a very rich aroma. Lots of roasted malts and coffee flavors and aromas. Get a slight chocolate flavor with a slight fruity flavor. This was a very good Scottish ale.

Bottle. Near black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts & coffee. Flavours are roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and caramel. Some dark fruit and brown sugar in there as well. Creamy medium bodied mouthfeel. Would benefit from a bit more alcohol, but still very good.

Pint bottle pours dark brown almost black with a nice creamy tan head that stays pretty well and laces some as it slides down the glass. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Flavor is nice chocolate, roasted malts, toffee, caramel, a touch of smoke and a bit of raisin. Complex and very pleasant. Creamy soft palate. Medium body and very drinkable.

Poured a nice dark red to black color. Really had to work to get a head on it that quickly faded. Aromas are quite strong and hard to decipher, same with the flavor of the beer. Definite peak smokiness with typical roast coffee and chocolate. Also taste of burnt raisins and fig as well as a sweet brown sugar flavor. Actually quite complex, only wish would be that more alcohol was here to give the beer a warming alcohol taste.

Enormous head. The head tastes very good. I like malty beers. I’m just not that interested in drinking a whole beer with smoked malts. This one is a little thin. More enjoyable in small samples for my taste.
