Fruity peaty and roasty flavor. Smokey. Light bodied. Finish is bitter. Nice beer. Interesting. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 3, 2005 Pours a reddish brown color with a thick tan head that leaves rings of lace on the glass. Interesting aroma of smoked and roasted malt. Good flavor of peated and roasted malt, coacoa and earthy tones with a bitter finish. The body is light with a dry mouthfeel and strong carbonation. Very surprising and interesting. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 31, 2005 Bottled.
Clear brown coloured with a beige head.
Fruity aroma with roasted notes.
Fruity and roasted flavour with notes of coffee. beeriodic (61), Longmont, Colorado, USA Oct 31, 2005 Looks like CocaCola in the glass. Almost no head. A hint of malt in the nose. Lots of chocolate malt in the flavor. And some black patent, too, because it’s a very burnet flavor. Grainy mouthfeel. Like a homebrewed porter. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 23, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Pitch black indeed with only a small head. Very malty character, not only roasted but burned malt - almost peat-like. Very drinkable, but it honestly reminds me more of a porter. 230201 fluids (364), USA Oct 21, 2005 Nose is a mocha coffee and with a medium head. It has a semisweet smokey chocolate coffe taste with the body of an average porter. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA Oct 18, 2005 Lots of chocolate and bitter in the Dark Island. Not as impressed with it as I was Red or the Skullsplitter. Maybe I got a bad bottle. Will revisit this beer again.
