May 29, 2005 Dark clear red with a thick beige head. Aroma of light fruit and some hoppiness. Overall flavor is much more mild than I expected; notes of peat, caramel and toffee. The taste ends a little weak and watery. Moderately sweet, some bitterness in there but not much. Medium body with subtle carbonation. Lacing clings to the glass like puffy clouds, good head retention.

May 29, 2005 Dark brown colour with a baige head. Light roasted malty raisin aroma and a light sweet roasted dry taste. Medium body and a dry finish.

May 11, 2005 Deep red/mahogany body capped with a creamy, almost-tan head. Nicely malted aromas wtih tea, raisin, port wine and honey. Medium bodied, it held a moderate bitterness, lifted at times to semi-sweetness by the malts. Ended on the bitter side with light astringency.

May 10, 2005 Malty, smoky, meaty aroma, very much like a German Rauchbier. Very dark brown with a thick, rocky, mostly lasting tan head. Very malty flavor with slightly smoky flavor and slight sourness and bitterness. Medium-light carbonation and medium bodied with a fairly long, mellow finish. Aftertaste similar to aroma: malty, smoky and meaty. Nice beer. Not what I expected but a pleasant surprise.

Pours a brown with reddish highlights,
nice fluffy off white head that diminishes rather quickly.The initial aroma is roasted malt with some peatiness as it warms the fruitiness (raisins) is more apparent.
Taste is sweet roasted maltiness the hops are a no show ,a hint of smoke
thinnish mouthfeel is my biggest complaint.I would love this unfiltered in cask

Mar 31, 2005 Dark garnet color with a large off white head. Roasted malt aroma with some prune and smoke. Roasted smokey flavor with some coffee and a sour bite in the finish. Minimal hops flavor. Went down smooth.

Mar 21, 2005 Bottled. Dark...VERY dark, with a fine looking white head that lasts. Fantastic roasted malt aroma with a slight hint of hops lurking underneath. An amazing mouthful, again with roast malt to the fore and hops putting in an appearance with a slightly biiter edge on the finish. Excellent beer, loved it!

Mar 17, 2005 Deep ruby with a light brown creamy head. Aroma is of dark fruit with a caramel background and a roasted malt flavor. Slightly thin and watery.
