"The nose on this beer is ripe and fruity with slightly vinous esters, married to interesting hop notes - the colour of a glorious red ruby wine."

Deep black pour with a small tan head. Strong maly aroma...burnt caramel taste and smokey too. Not bad, interesting beer to say the least.

Small dark tan head. Dark brown/black brew. Medium body. Smokey, malty nose. Smokey, licoricey, burnt lumber flavors, maybe some peat flavors also. Medium sweet finish. Alot of flavor and body for a 4.6% alc strength brew.

From all initial indications I thought this beer was going to be a thick malty stout (at least that's what the aroma and appearance appeared to be). The taste was shocking light and easy going. A bit of caramel and toffee. Quite nice.

very dark brown color, small head that dissipated fast.Malty, caramel aroma.Malty taste with a slight coffee tone to it mild on the alcohol slightly sweet with a somewhat sour ending to it.There is also a mild hop presence. The after taste is malty and coffee.with the feel being smooth but IMO some what watery. It's a nice tasting brew but lacks a little in the body.

The aroma is slightly smoked. The color is dark red with a light brown head. The flavor is good with strong notes of roasted and smoked malts. A really good beer.

A midly tasty ale, very true to the style. Pours a deep rich brownish amber coloring, with a very small but noticeable creamy head. Very smokey in the aroma and in the taste definitely, taste like a creme brulee, lots of caramel and coffee, with some doughy malty taste coming around later in the beer. Finish is lightly peppery and nicely bittersweet.

Tasted in DC at RFD. Deep brown colour, light white / tan head. Nice lacing in the glass. Light aroma. Difficult to pick up any real strong aromas. Tastes like a rauchbier. Smoky, peaty with hints of bacon.
