Oct 24, 2008 50cl bottle @ VinensVerden, Odense. Pours dark brown with a settling creamy foam. Nose is amazing - dark fruits, figs , prunes & lots of chocolate, very complex & inviting. Mouthfeel is medium & slightly creamy. Oily & vinous. Taste has vague hints of smoke together with figs, prunes, wood, vanilla, chocolate, caramel & roast. This is lovely!

Oct 1, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Imagine standing infront of a grill and eating a hunk of smoked ham. That’s this beer in a nutshell. A little watery, reminds me of NG Smoke on the Porter.

Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown with light brown thin head. Quite mild tasting, thin bodied, needs a little more substance. Slight dark chocolate with a little smoke in the finish. Far from offensive but just didn’t really kick me in the tastebuds. Or get me hoover the lawn drunk.

Sep 7, 2008 Bottle in Miami. Dark brown. Light head. Rich aroma with brown sugar, peat and smoked malt. Tasty flavour aspromised by the aroma. Burnt sugar sweetness. Peat and smoked malt with Scottish spice. Very nice.

Aug 28, 2008 (Bottle). Smokey malt aroma. Color is dark reddish brown, with a small tan head. Very smokey flavor, balanced with some hops bitterness. Nice malty finish. Interesting and enjoyable brew.

Aug 25, 2008 Date and dark bitter chocolate nose. Striking black with a nice tan head. Dark bittersweet chocolate dominates followed by fig and dark fruit flavors with coffee, burned caramel, and earthy notes finishing off the flavor. Nice mouth feel, nice weight and clean finish. Overall it’s not overly complex, but has alot going on. Very good and drinkable!

Aug 16, 2008 (SCOTLAND) Pours a nice dark brown almost black in color with a med off white head. The aroma is of dark malts, hops, and chocolate. The taste has a pleasant smoky flavor with some chocolate, malts, and a hint of espresso. The mouthfeel has a nitro feel to it that is very smooth and refreshing !!! There was also some wonderful lacing in the glass.

Aug 13, 2008 Bottle from ’Beersofeurope.co.uk’: Pours a rich, thick almost black colour. Very nice aroma of sour roast malt and chocolate. The flavour is roast malt, with a little chocolate and fruit. Slight sourness as you’d expect from an old ale. This is a really good example of an old ale.
