"The nose on this beer is ripe and fruity with slightly vinous esters, married to interesting hop notes - the colour of a glorious red ruby wine."

Dark ruby red. Front is thick and malty, finish is thin, bright and finishes sweet and satisfying (yumminess). enough hops to keep it from being cloying. this is real quality stuff.

dark like crayola’s ’brick red’. I had it cask conditioned at a tasting. Very malty with very little hops to round it out. This, like the other orkney had a watery palate.

For a 5% beer this was very smoky, oily, and peaty. Abundant but fine carbonation. Very soft, medium-heavy mouthfeel. Body is dark and murky. Nutty notes. Some fruitiness or acidity might have balanced this out a little better. Very nice, but somewhat overwhelmingly peaty.

Pours a nice dark brown with a bubbly choco head. Aroma is a faint choco malt. At first I thought it would be weak because of the smell, but it turned out to be a rich roasted malt flavor. It was quite nice and better if drinken slowly.

Pours beautifully dark, tastes a bit too smooth if anything. The smoky flavor of heath and hops slide across the palate, giving you little to fight with. Not a bad beer, but priced like a great beer.

Aroma is creamy, caramelized malt, smoked grains. Taste is carbonation, smoke, roasted caramel, with kind of a club soda finish. Pretty decent. Love the smoke, wish this had a touch more age on it. Would like to try again.
