COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"The nose on this beer is ripe and fruity with slightly vinous esters, married to interesting hop notes - the colour of a glorious red ruby wine."

This ale has a raison nose with a hint of olive. The taste though is quite different, being overly smokey. The mouthfeel was nice but the smokiness was just too overwhelming.

inbirraveritas (1230) - Budapest, HUNGARY - AUG 5, 2014
Bottled, 500 ml. Very deep dark ruby coloured brew with a big, but relatively quickly diminishing pale brown head on its top. Intensive nose of dried fruits, caramel and chocolate. Dried fruity aroma escorted by caramel and chocolate underpainted by hints of coffee, mouthfeel is smooth, syrupy. Long and dry, distinct tart finish with earth and dark chocolate. Enjoyable.

SarkyNorthener (1849) - Walsall (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 23, 2014
Bottle thanks to parents in law from trip to Scotland. Black beer with residual head. Aroma is a little chocolate, roasted malts and a little peat. Taste is some coffee, roasted malts, dark fruit and a little licorice. Quite thin bodied and a little too much carbonation. Not a touch on the cask version. Overall decent.

Bottle from old backlog notes 07. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, chocolate, dark fruit, some peaty smoke, most of this is on the nose as the flavor is thin and mouthfeel a bit watery.

Aroma of malt and coffee, ebony colored with a thick tan short lasting head. Taste of coffee, and malt, with a watery feel and a dry palate.

Bottle. Dark brown body with a reddish hue. Medium tall thick head. Very light aroma, mostly resembling other classic old ales. Empty sourish taste with some muted vinous hints and not much else. It’s really like a watered down Old Tom or Old Peculier.
