COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Previously 4.0% & 4.1%.
NOTE: Only ratings for the Cask version go here. The Bottled version has a separate listing.

Appearance: A mid golden colour with a light creamy head
Aroma: This mid-golden ale is a complex mixture of toasted and biscuit like malt aromas with spicy resinous hop notes
Palate: This complexity continues with the biscuit malt and spicy citrus fruit flavours dominating, giving way to a crisp, dry hop bitterness
Key Ingredients: The very best pale ale malt and a touch of crystal and amber malts give Raven its complex malt undertones, complemented by the bitterness and dried orange or spicy orange character of Fuggles and Goldings hops

Golden colour with a decent white head. Aroma is light hops. The flavour is malty, lightly hoppy, biscuity/cereals. OK beer, but nothing special going on.

Cask Real Ale tasted at GB RAF 2012. Mild nose. Pale head. Pale golden slightly hazy color. Malty lemon and grapefruit taste. Average hops. Hops bite at the end.

Hand pull, The Felix Holt (JDW), Nuneaton, 23/10/12. Creamy, faintly misted gold. Buttered hay aroma; some oak and minerals. Marzipan and buttered oak flavour. Not my thing.

(on tap - but really thought the pump was Black Raven) Slightly hazy golden with good white head. Odd, but not unpleasant aroma - mainly malt but with hints of butter and nougat. Medium body, medium carbonation. Refreshing fruity candy start, moving through biscuity malt to a nice bitter finish. Overall a nice beer.

Cask @ JDW Muckle Cross, Elgin 230912
Gold amber, clear, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma - pale malts, light farmyard, hay, hint of manure
Taste - cereal malts, hay, odd flavour, plasticy, poor
Palate - soft carb, thin body. Finish - very dry, astringent, bit spicy hop, very metallic linger
Overall - rough tasting golden ale - very poor, couldn’t even finish a half pint

1/2 pint @ Halfway House. Traditional cask pull, gold clear color, good lacing, good steady bitter taste, light. Also nice easy aftertaste, well done.

Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - APR 24, 2012
Half pint, fresh and well-kept hand-pulled cask ale at Bon Accord. Hazy, golden body, small white head blanketing the glassware. Leafy hops to the nose. Blended taste of lightly spiced hops and bready malts. Bitter endnotes. Foamy in the mouth. Well bodied compared with the low abv. (Glasgow, 11.04.2012).
