3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2005 Gravity cask @ Hants Bowman (Feb 05), Dundridge. Red colour. Fruity malt aromas. Some sweetness but quite light. Refreshing with short bitter finish. 6 4 6 3 13
Once again consumed at the Hampshire Bowman (Oct 05) this time I found some delicious flowerly lightly fruity aromas with hints of rosewater. The fairly dry malt body works quite well with this but the overall effect becomes perfumey in the end and doesnt quite pull it off. 8 4 6 3 12

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Cask conditioned - handpump - JDW Northampton. A reddy brown attractive looking beer with a spicy hop aroma and good hops in the taste. There are good fruity notes in the taste. I seemed to notice some tangerine? Nice stuff. Score 3.5
Subsequent rating also scored 3.5.

A dry-ish mid Brown beer. Yet quite malty too. Very drinkable this one.

cask at the johnson arma beer festival, nottingham.
i really enjoyed this pint, one of my favourite beers. pours a red colour, like an irish red. the taste is beautifully balanced between hops and malt. very easy to drink, i would say creamy almost, almost like your drinking air- could drnk all day and all night and then some.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask Conditioned, at the Head of Steam, Euston, London.
Auburn copper coloured beer. Smooth, modest malt aroma. This beer is well made, pleasant and served in top condition but to be honest, its not a stand out for me….and I’m a Orkney fan. The first real ale pint I enjoyed was an Orkney.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Vibrant red-copper colour. The aroma took me by surprise. I was expecting lots of bready malt. There is certainly a marked maltiness, but it is very dry and counterpointed by a forceful citric hop presence. The same elements carry through on to the palate, the malt perhaps developing subtle smoky notes, with dried fruit joining the fray too. The finish is clean and bitter, leaving a slightly sharp lingering aftertaste. Medium bodied, beautifully balanced and a cracking good drink. The cask version is 4%, as opposed to 5% in pasteurised bottle, which, from other comments appears to be much sweeter and softer. I would question whether it should be regarded as the same beer. Handpump, Head of Steam, Euston, London NW1.
