3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The bottle pours a deep redish color with very little head and no lace. The aroma is of malt and alcohol. The flavor is complex and slow to progress from a rather mild start to a peat-like earthy middle and a very roasty dry and nutty finish. The palate is not as rich as I expected, but it is silky. Overall, I like it pretty well.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2005 Deep raisin-brown, somewhat muddy, a bit of carbonation rising. Dark. I got hardly any head out of mine. I also could find little to no aroma, perhaps it was served too cold. starts out sweet and warm. Alcohol and lots of chocolate covered raisins, with some drier salty roast. Great texture, very silky, but has some pepperiness in there to keep it interesting. Maybe not the most complex of it’s style, but not the least either.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled: Dark golden coloured. Almost amber. Huge off white head. Lasting. Huge dense malt aroma. Delicious. Fruity in some sence. Has some alcahol notes. The flavour is malty as well. Smooth, sweet and pleasant. Ends with a fine alcahol burnt on the lips. Last long. Great beer.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
I've been after this at beer festivals for some time now - but it's always the first one to sell out. So I got the bottle version. Rather disappointed. The alcohol dominates crudely. There's malt and stuff. Take away the alcohol, and there's a halfway decent beer here, but the whole thing is simply crude and aggressive with that alcohol sloshing around in such an undeveloped manner. If you like high alcohol beer that's not been fully brewed out, then this is for you. But if you like any semblance of craftsmanship, subtlety, balance and good taste, you'll avoid this like a Carlsberg Special Brew.

Great looking, amber, beer. Has a nice, pillowy, creamy, head. Strong malty(peat, scottish malt)aroma.Full mouthfeel, big body. Creamy and silky texture. Excellent lacing. Loaded with malty flavors:molasses, peat, toffee, and slightly nutty. Finish is malty, with a touch of smoke. Long lingering finish. I can't believe I've waited this long.Great malty ale!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Strong aroma of malt, peat and smoke. Dark brown beer beer with a tan head and lacing. Great appearance and wonderful mouthfeel. A stong beer with sweet malty taste and some hopp balancing bitterness. Complex. Make sure you drink this one at the right temp. It mellows as it warms.
