Aroma is light and malty with a good amount of caramel, smoked peat, and dark fruits. Flavor is rich and smoky at the beginning with a rich and dark fruit middle followed by a good amount of caramel, some more smoke, alcohol, and a light hop bitterness. Frothy and fresh-tasting. Very smooth finish. I really enjoyed this beer and am looking forward to getting the 4 pack. I drank it while watching Beowulf, too. Just a coincidence.

Nose has a strange bready malty yeastiness to it that is very similar to a cask wee heavy I once had at Boston Beer works. Very malty and bready throughout. Definitely a Scottish take on the style. Not for me.
