Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

330 ml bottle...Poured a beautiful garnet color w/ a slight off-white head. Aromas of flowers, fruit, caramel...Tastes of yeast, malt, caramel, and some fruit. Very smooth! Nice balance of malts and hops...

Bottled. I can’t believe this is listed as a barley wine cause it tastes more like a bock to me, Pours a reddish brown. Aroma is caramel and syrup. Very light in the mouth, a bit of a hops kick and some carbonation. Pretty durned good.

Poured dark brown with red highlights. A two-finger head and some lacings. Tastes like soy-sauce mixed with molasses then made into wine. Lots of alcohol evident. Not my type of brew.

Poured reddish brown coor with small beige head. OK this beer tasted stronger than the 8.5 ABV. and is not very smooth. I guess I am not a barley wine type of guy, because I did not care for this brew. Scent was ok but taste was to harsh.

bottle. 2007 vintage (i think), pours ruby with creamy off white head. nose is loaded with molasses, some caramelized nuts. flavor of molasses, toffee, nuts. very mild smoke and peatiness as well. this is pretty straight forward, but its tasty. sweet but not too sweet and no alcohol is noticed. a tad watery. rather short, bland, sweet finish. solid stuff though.

Pours dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is yeasty like bread with some mild fruit tones. Sweet malt flavor, more of a bready presence in flavor as well. Not Bad.

Very scotch ale like - in other words very drinkable, easy drinking for such a kick-ass beer. Smooth and malty, nice caramel notes throughout, somewhat ripe fruit, but not Belgain like in its noticability. A real treat.
