COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

I’d see this one frequently and decided to finally pick it up. It smelled a tad buttery with hints of toast and caramel. The carbonation was light - flavors of toffee and faint hops were delicate as well with a tart finish. Overall the alcohol was well hidden, but flavors were just too soft and too buttery-sweet.

Bottiglia 33cl, comprata da eataly e bevuta a casa. Rossa molto scura con schiuma non troppo persistente. Corpo pieno ed alcolico, potente. Finale amaro ed astringente. Non passa inosservata...

Deceptively light reddish brown color fruity flavored good switch up when you're drinking darker beers. Not a bad beer if you're looking for dark colored light texture. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

November 8, 2014. Bottle at [hg], Linköping. Clear dark reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, some toffee and paint thinner. Taste is medium sweet malty, light bitter with harsh paint thinner notes. Medium bodied. Something went wrong during fermentation.

Rating #1058 - April 13, 2014 - Bottle from Co-op - 8.8% Darker amber pour with a bubbly tan foam with medium retention. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee, alcohol. Taste is quite sweet at first, malt and toffee, full bodied. I enjoyed this beer more as it started to warm. Lingering sweetness with a hint of toffee and treacle tart. Worthy of a Viking.

11.2 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at room temperature. A: Pours a clear, deep ruby-russet brown, and forms a just-wider-than-a-finger head of very pale tan. Once the head collapses into a ring, it leaves some spotty but rather persistent lacing. S: Sweet caramel toffee malt swirls out of the glass, with just a hint of earthiness, and some mild dark fruit. T: Yes. Exactly in line with the nose. The flavors open with pure sweet malt, all caramel and toffee slathered and draped over warm toast. Towards the middle, a faint hint of black earth creeps in, and brings along some notes like leather oiled and polished with something that contains a dark fruit essence, like currants and plums. A more roasted, darker feel rounds out the malt profile as well as the beer progresses. The finish is a commingling of the malt sweetness and that earthen-clay bitterness. M: Surprisingly light-bodied for the flavor, this beer has enough carbonation to give it some mouth presence. A bit more stickiness would have been nice. O: A glorious wee heavy, and one I return to frequently. For a devout malthead, this beer is a dance of triumph along the tongue.

330ml bottle from Hippo Beers, Glasgow. Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to open this. A classic wee heavy. Beautifully sweet aroma. Taste is smooth molasses, raisins and dark rum. Lovely beer.

"this one’s got a bit of muscle behind it. Yuuuumy! Too much going on in the nose and palate to list (see brewer’s description). Not the best, but not to far off. Totally enjoyable.
