Pours a wonderful dark ruby color. Great frothy head which disappears too quickly leaving only a trace of lace. Smells are mild and light. Tastes are very floraly but yet mild. Just right IMO

Aroma: Marzipan, Grüner Apfel, Holunderblüten (wie in Bionade). Viele Alkohole, das macht Kopfschmerzen.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle. Pours deep copper thick off white head with some lacing. Aromas fruity malt, caramel, some spicy notes, even some darker fruits as well. Taste is malty sweetness, caramel, touch of warming, but not over powering, licorice, molasses hints of dried dark fruit. Finishes with some bitterness, and a touch on the dry side. Quite enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, BB May 2015, into tulip. Dark red, sparkling, decent foamy white head endures and leaves strips of lacing. Aroma - lots of bready malts, yeast, alcohol, sharp fruity notes suggesting cherry. Reminds me of Gulden Draak. Body is medium, hardly any carbonation, slightly foamy but mostly smooth. Taste - very malty, some alcohol sharpness, liquorice and fig, grassy finish. In a blind taste, I’d have said that this was a Belgian strong ale. Decent enough, but not my favourite style.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great looking beer -- deep ruby/brown, with a creamy off-white head with a nice lace. Aroma of fresh baked bread, with rich, dark fruits thrown in for good measure. The taste is a combination of brown bread, raisins, spice cake, currants. Sweet and peaty, this is one to sip and enjoy.

Pen & Paper Log (Sep 2012)
Aroma - carmalized sugar and a little peat in the nose
Appearance - body is brown in color, the head off-white
Taste - not amongst my favorite styles or taste - sweet caramelized sugar, alcohol, dark fruit also is present, and some smokiness
Palate - body is medium, sticky texture, carbonation is pretty average, and full of alcohol in the finish in a sweet way, which I’m not a fan of.
To be fair, I’m not a fan of this style, but I always try to be objective. If you are a fan of the style there is definitely better selections.
