"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as íSatiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkableí."

Pours a dark brown-ruby with a light tan, very well-retaining head. Cherry liqueur and caramel nose. Flavors follow the nose fairly closely with a fade of a medicinal quality.

Used to love this beer. Now tastes a little fruity and sour. Still nice and strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, at the CTBCAIPAT-O. (An investigation is underway to try to figure out how this snuck into an IPA tasting.) Pours a deep red-brown with a very lacy, creamy, mixed-grained, tan head. Nose is apple, maple, and brown sugar. On the tongue itís apple, dark rum, wheat bread, date, and raisin; somewhat boozy, low on carbonation, quite rich, but a little thin on the mid-palate. Finish is long, sweet, and treacly. Good.

Pours deep copper with a very thin head; minimal lacing. Definitely some dark fruit notes present; raisin, plum, with hints of caramel, earthy woodiness and some alcohol. Taste is in the same vain of dried fruits, caramel, chocolate and the same slight booziness. Quite good.

Fruity aroma of plum. Hops stay in the background. Moderately sweet; light bitterness. Medium body; carbonation a bit soft; finish is fairly long and somewhat fruity. Overall itís OK but fairly simple.

On tap at The Foundry. Not exactly cask, served in a tulip. Good dark look to it and a balanced, well carbonated appealing malty caramel flavor. Very easy drinking brew. Iím not a big Scots Ale fan (scotch is a drink, Scots are the people, Iíve been told. Of course ale is not a person, nor is it scotch whiskey. Now Iím confused...). Anyway, this one goes on my good list.

330mL bottle poured into tulip glass. Color is a deep Amber/red with a white head. Aroma is a mix of molasses and wood (and a little dried fruit). Tastes sweet with strong caramel and raisin flavors and a medium alcoholic flavor. Body is surprisingly light and smooth with a short finish. Overall a pretty solid beer that is surprisingly easy to drink.

330 ml bottle. Pours a tawny Amber color with a small white head. Toasted malt nose has toffee-like tendencies. Flavor has sweet toasted malt notes with a vinous undertone. Bittersweet and earthy. Smooth and fruity, with subtle resiny hops. Boozy malt finish.
