"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

MBison (548) - Southern Highlands, - MAY 7, 2009
Bottle (330ml). Poured dark ruby with a good sized, lightly tanned head which was mostly lasting. A rich malty aroma with burnt sugars, toffee, dark chocolate, caramelized dates, figs and light woody notes. Flavor was a moderate earthy hop bitterness with toasted malts, roasted nuts, rich toffee, rum & raisin chocolate, muscatels, notes of wood/oak and some light notes of allspice. Very well balanced with a well masked ABV. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation, a chewy mouthfeel, thick texture and a good length finish. Very rich easy drinking ale from Orkney, although it did seem much more like a “Wee Heavy”/Scotch Ale IMO.

330ml bottle from the end of 2012. Pours a clear caramel with a thin, near white head. Aroma has big notes of sweetness. Caramel and dark fruits with a hint of white chocolate and toffee.Taste is not as sweet as it smells. Balanced with mild, flavour notes of bread, caramel, and a bit of dark fruit. Low-medium body with a medium carbonation. Pretty clean in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall an easy drinking ale. Big sweet nose but with a balanced, almost bitter taste. Caramel and dark fruits.

daje (2450) - NORWAY - AUG 21, 2014
Bottle at Aye Aye Club, august 19th 2014. Clear amber body with a thich beige head. Aroma of toffee, plum, herbs. Taste is light roasty with a caramel sweetness dominating, alcohol, light fruity, metallic finish with subtle fruit hints and a strong toffee character, notable alcohol aftertaste. Not bad but probably one I wont have again.
