Flamojune (29), Québec, Quebec, Canada Aug 31, 2008 Tres bonne Scotch Ale made on Isle d’Orleans. Bon gout de caramel et cie. Finale tres agéable, l’alchol se fait un peu sentir. Rien d’extraordinaire mais ca fait la job. GregClow (2332), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 23, 2008 Bottle from trip to Montreal. Pours a deep ruby-brown with a two-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and toffee, with back notes of peat, smoke and wood. Medium bodied. Flavour is full and satisfying - roasty and sweet off the top, with notes of caramel and cocoa, some light peat, and a moderately bittered finish. Very nice! Dickinsonbeer (2514), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Mar 29, 2008 .5 liter brought back from mt. Aroma is insanely buttery, butterscotch- obcious diacetyl going on in there, with soem lgith swet dounghy and biscuity malts. Flavor is bready, doughy, more buttered popcorn, toffee, and caramel- with a nutty and drying finishi- the diacetyl ruins the beer, althoguh without it, the beer would probably still suck. Pours a clear deep amber-brown with a large foamy tan head. Nice aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt, maple syrup, coffee, chocolate, hops and a hint of smoke -- I’m quite happily surprised how much I like this aroma. Flavour: Man, I was really not expecting this beer to be this good, this is tasty stuff. Again, toasted caramel, chocolate, maple syrup, green hops and a hint of smoke. Alcohol’s well hidden. Medium to full bodied. This is the first Quebec beer in a while that’s surprised me, it’s really good! Well done.
