A classic dry porter with coffee, toffee and roasty notes in both the aroma and flavor. Black in color with a refreshingly dry finish. Reminiscent of the porters of old before the days of stouts.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2010 tap at brewery and elsewhere and my own ratings have varied greatly by batch/location, so iím going with my most recent rating from the brewery, even though the total score is only half of what i gave it the first time i had it.

opaque black, dense tan head, medium-thin body.
some bright vegetal sourness in the aroma.

malt profile is weak, and seems stretched thin. lots of charr but no roast, like itís all pale and black malts with nothing in between. a bit of licorice up front, with mostly charred malt in the astringently dry finish.
hop profile is also rather weak.

overall, somewhat like a licoricy guinness. it grows on you a bit, but is just lacking in overall depth and character.

12 oz bottle thanks to ibrew2or3. Pours a murky brown color with only a small bubble of head. The aroma is nice; smoke, roasted malts and chocolate. The flavor is similar; chalky, sweet chocolates, roasted malts, light bitter chocolate, milky. Decent, but lacking a good body.

A lite porter. Lite to medium bodied. Dark in color. Nice aromas. The label is awesome. Tried this at the tap room as part of a sample packet.

Tap FBGF. Pours black with off white head. Aroma of roasted coffee malts. Taste of roasted malts, possibly some faint notes of smoke and chocolate. Light hops with a nice sublte bitter finish. Some dark fruits can also be felt in the mix. Overall the beer is light, and drinkable.
