BeerVirgin72 (582), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Jun 16, 2008 Had on tap at brewery. Dark amber color. The sweet malty flavor up front was completely dominated to me by the spicy hops on the finish. Not a huge fan of EPA’s. VTHopHead (683), Barre, Vermont, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bottle - Enjoyed at the Marriott World Center in Orlando - Poured a dark amber in color with a small white head that faded quickly. Aroma was faint of spicy hops and stronger of caramel and sweet malts. Flavor was malty and slightly sweet, with a hint of hop bitterness and the sticky butterscotch sweetness that the diacetyl brings to the beer. Could use some more hops, but not a bad beer... thill25 (186), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 18, 2008 On tap @ OB...Poured a deep brown w/ red highlights. This beer smelled great...floral hops, malts, grains, toffee, caramel, but unfortunately the flavor was lacking. Picked up on some metallics early on then it slipped into some watery caramel, toffee notes, and a slight soapy aftertaste. The palate was weak and watery. With a few tweaks I think this beer could be great, but I liked their Dopplebock much better. Ibrew2or3 (1705), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Mar 12, 2008 Pours clear deep copper with lasting ring of an off white head. There is a lot of 90L crystal malts along with a little biscuit, toffee, bread and a hint of vague hoppiness. The nose is on the light side overall. The flavor is bold malts with 90L crystal malts, other roasted malts and some malt astringency. I also get pine hop bitterness followed up by biscuit, toffee and mild bread that all hit about midway and ride into the finish. Enjoyable roasty brew. Tmoney99 (3550), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Feb 16, 2008 Draft sample at the brewpub. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate caramel malty aroma. Medium body. Medium bittersweet flavor with an average smooth bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
