COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

500 ml bottle. Pours almost pitch black with a dark beige head. Smells of strong chocolate and roasted grains. Tastes of vanilla, roasted malt, sweet chocolate with a slight roasted grain finish and a lingering cocoa flavor. Body is very thick, creamy, alcohol is practically imperceptible. I was blasted away by this one, was not expecting it to be that good.

Thx to SlovakSniper for the brews! Black brew with a huge foamy medium brown cap that fizzles down to a skim. Light alcohol, fruit, phenols, biscuit, chocolate, vanilla, almonds, big roast, not quite right. It’s average on deep sniffs but not good on normal drinking. Fairly big taste but more than a welcome dose of alcohol hits quick and hard. Lots of deep roast and bakers chocolate, notable bitterness without a big fruity hop character, vanilla extract, the roast gets bigger and bigger. The more I drink the heavier this gets. I am liking this more due to the very tasty roast but the alcohol is a bit annoying. Coffee lingerings appear. Dark fruits and more vanilla and chocolate - this brew is starting to win me over considering how low I had this rated 15 minutes ago. Malty and alcohol with a thick mouth feel and a so-so coating. Too bad for this annoying alcohol. I have a feeling that this would be very very good on tap.

Belle trouvaille!...Énorme tête mocha texture milkshake. Au nez le chocolat au lait et légères notes de vanille. En bouche c’est très onctueux, massivement chocolaté avec une amertume très discrète.

Bottle thanks to Arch. Pours black. Tan head. Nose/taste of black licorice, roast chocolate and black malt, vanilla and coffee. Some spiciness in taste. Overly carbonated.

Bottle. Very decent brew. Wanted somethign that would stand up to a sampled DFH Fort with strong flavors and rich body. We went to this slightly sweet, mostly toasty chocolate malty brew. It poured like motor oil thick dark and shiny. Minimal tan head with notes of lactose and vanilla. We really enjoyed this one. Wish it was in Ontario, though its a another great reason to visit Montreal.

2011-01-02. Black body with a good sized tan head that fades slowly. 4+ Aroma of roast and slightly charred sweet dark malt in the core. 6+ Flavour has a nice base of sweet dark malt, dry bitter roast overtones. Finishes with a nice balance of bitter roast and sweet malt that lingers into the aftertaste. Smooth medium bodied palate. Tastes a lot like a roastier version of my homebrew imperial stout actually! Solid but simple. Bottle from trade with Fred82

[3535-20110102] 500mL bottle. Roasted date malt aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Roasted molasses malt flavour has a long sweet aftertaste. Full rich body. Quite nice, rich and tasty, but after a while becomes a little tart with booze. (7/4/8/4/16+)
Commentator: "That’s good penetration all the way around from the front of the Giants..."
