COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

2011-01-02. Black body with a good sized tan head that fades slowly. 4+ Aroma of roast and slightly charred sweet dark malt in the core. 6+ Flavour has a nice base of sweet dark malt, dry bitter roast overtones. Finishes with a nice balance of bitter roast and sweet malt that lingers into the aftertaste. Smooth medium bodied palate. Tastes a lot like a roastier version of my homebrew imperial stout actually! Solid but simple. Bottle from trade with Fred82

[3535-20110102] 500mL bottle. Roasted date malt aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Roasted molasses malt flavour has a long sweet aftertaste. Full rich body. Quite nice, rich and tasty, but after a while becomes a little tart with booze. (7/4/8/4/16+)

Half Liter. Pours a black body with a tan head and light lacing and retention. Malty body chocolate malt sweetness, light coffee notes of espresso bitterness and vanilla sweetness. Mild sweetness with a lingering espresso bitterness to finish. Good stuff.

500mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, light cocoa, espresso and vanilla beans. Flavour is much more roasted than the nose suggests, very pronounced dark roasted flavours, with secondary tones of espresso, dark chocolate and vanilla beans. Very enjoyable.

50cl bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a fizzy one finger light brown head that faded quickly to a thin covering. The nose is wonderfully chocolaty and roasty with a nice sweetness and a lighter accent of coffee and vanilla beans. The flavor is big milk chocolate and coffee with a slightly sweet vanillla and cream note on the finish. Nicely done roastiness, no burnt or charred notes. It’s sweet for sure, but not cloying or sticky. Medium to full bodied with light soft carbonation. A touch of alcohol heat on the finish, but the flavor of it is mostly obscured by the heavy chocolate flavor. Pretty nice beer, one of the more chocolate forward Imperial Stouts.

500 mL bottle from Depanneur Peluso, served in a snifter. Pours deep black with an average tan head. The head fades to a bare cover and leaves a small amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are aromas of chocolate, molasses, vanilla, earth, fruit and a hint of herbal hops. The flavour begins with a moderate-intense sweetness, becoming slightly less sweet through the middle. Towards the finish, it acquires a bitter, burnt quality and the alcohol begins to peek through. The finish is moderate-long with lots of roasted malts. On the palate, it is medium-full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a reasonable imperial stout, but the malts could be more complex. 2010-09-15

DerWeg (1525) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 10, 2010
Pretty dark looking, espresso crema brown head. Aroma has alcohol, herbal hops, barely some chocolate or vanilla. Taste has pretty big rich roast malts and dark fruit, some hints of cocoa, alcohol, slightly vegetal, herbal leafy hops. Ends in uncomfortable lack of harmony, a bit sour. Don’t quite get it, or else $5.95 bottle from Dep Bonisoir Peluso is old.

Bottle thanks for Glouglouburp. This bottle sat in my cellar for over a year and I really don’t know how old it is, but here goes. Pours a surprisingly thin dark brown with dark tan head. Aroma strong and inviting of roasted malts, milk chocolate (not dark), and a very slight burnt coffee. Flavor is all over the board and actually has a slight sourness, this beer is an absolute mess. It has a lot of character though, but I do not wish to drink it again unless it is much different.
