Bottle 500 ml. Bought at Peluso (Montreal). Pours hazy amber with medium creamy white head. Some particles. Some lacing. Aroma: Interesting notes of citrus, plus spices, malt and hops. Taste is very malty, with strong hints of caramel. Slight citrus. Balance is ok. Spicy finish. A good beer, but there are a lot of better I2IPA.

Aromas: Slightly malted accents like crystallized fruits, field berries, with subtle notes of biscuit and wood cask. Very discreet nose. Appearance: Average beige head, a mix of tiny and mid size bubbles, not lasting much and with no lacing. Color is medium amber and hazy. Attack is all bitterness and a bit salty. Accents are malty and hoppy. Bitterness is dry and cutting. Duration of bitterness is long. Malty flavors like biscuit, caramel, candy cane and cask are sticking out more than the hoppy flavors. Beside the dry and cutting finish, the hops flavors are not sticking out much.

[4342-20120322] 500mL bottle. Toasted citrus bread and fruity yeasty hops aroma. Slightly hazy, dark orange amber body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Lots of bitter tangerine hops in the flavour with an underlying toasted bread dough throughout. Medium-full body. Quite tasty, would love to try a fresher sample. (7/4/7/3/16) 3.7

Hazy pale amber with a large white creamy head. Aroma is resin, fruity, flowery with a hint of caramel. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. In mouth is almost only hoppy. Resin with a long lasting bitterness. Some caramel malt at the end.

2012-03-22. Hazy dark orange, small beige head. 3+ Aroma of sweet caramel malt, light alcohol and grains. Flavour is similar, sweet caramel malt, light grains, muted leafy green hops. Light bitterness in the finish, but the main character is sweet caramel malt. Pleasant, pretty mild. It is enjoyable, and not super hoppy, though it grows a bit as you go. Enjoyable. Perhaps a bit old, but I seem to have enjoyed it more than many others so who knows. Bottle, a few months old from Dépanneur Tout-Près, Levis

500 ml bottle. Pours a clear orangeish blonde with a thick, persistent white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Smells like hops, very herbal. Tastes like grains and sweet caramel. Light hoppy bitterness in the finish. Body is full, slightly creamy thanks to the head. Very easy-drinking double IPA that just may be a bit lacking in bitterness. Nonetheless, it’s a very fine ale.

Maybe not what some would expect from a double IPA but judged on its own merits and not on expectations I think it is a quite nice beer. As many mentioned, the malt taste is sweet with a little bit of alcoholic heaviness. The hop bitterness is quite present at all stages of drinking but it is a very mild subtle type of bitterness that in my opinion combines well with the sweetness. The aftertaste is very long lasting. Tends towards a hybrid beer style as opposed to a pure DIPA but nothing wrong with that.
