Good sweet aromas, that’s where I got more maple than in the taste. Above average mouthfeel, buffeted by the maple. Decent drinkability and darkish colour.Bottle from marche Atwater.

500 ml bottle purchased at Paluso (Montreal), on March 20, 2011. Burgundy brown, small head. Aroma of malted barley a little spicy, hints of maple. Very sweet taste of barley, a few notes of maple, slightly dry aftertaste. This guy Louis, he seems to laugh, at this beer!

Bouteille.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy brown color ale with a nice thick foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light residual sugar with some good notes of caramelized Belgian malt. Taste is also a mix of caramelized Belgian malt with residual sugar. Maple syrup is not a huge factor in this one. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed with limited character.

Pours brown, a bit murky. Close to no head. Aroma is yeast, sugar (maple) and malts. Taste is a bit syrupy -- too much emphasis on the syrup to be anything else than a dessert beer. A pretty good one at that, however. A hint of caramel and banana as well. Means it’s a sugar party. Rather clean finish. My beer was brutally undercarbonated. The syrup doesn’t seem to "add" to the beer, like some other (thinking of the Tord-Vis) does. It just means that the beer tastes syrup.

Bouteille 500 ml. 9%. Couleur brune brouillée. Mousse beige. Arômes de pruneaux, levures et un peu de céréale. En bouche, notes de fruits rouge, un peu sucrée, malt, orge. Le sirop d’érable est par contre très bien caché. Notes de cassonade et d’alcool. Bonne .

500 ml bottle from Depanneur Peluso, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Very cloudy deep brown-amber with a fair orange-tan head. Aroma: Tons of rich caramel, toffee, treacle, some dark dried fruits with bright notes, big brown sugar veering towards molasses, maple syrup comes to mind...power of suggestion?, some esters poke through as it warms; so malty that it could be a Doppelbock or some kinda kicked-up, Americanized version of a brown ale or something equally malty. Palate: Medium-full body, moderate prickly effervescence. Flav.: Surprise....more rich malty notes! Lots of caramel/toffee/treacle, brown sugar,a bit fruitier than the nose, a bit brighter too, some alcohol comes through (not to a point where it is objectionable), definitely some brighter fruitiness, there are those esters as the very end; sweet with a little bitterness and a boozy, sweet, malty finish.

Highly enjoyable.

Copper Orange with thin white head. Big time alcohol taste. Reeks of a doppelbock. Maple syrup prominent. Good for sippin’ but not a ’Wow’.

500 mL bottle from Depanneur Peluso in Montréal, served in a snifter. Pours clear reddish brown with a small tan head. The head fades slowly but leaves a small amount of lace. On the nose, there are aromas of caramel, molasses, maple, toasted malts, flowers and resin with a hint of anise in the finish. The flavour begins moderately sweet and becomes slightly more so through the middle. It acquires a light bitter flavour towards the finish. The finish is longer than average, with a slight hint of anise and hop bitterness. On the palate, it is medium-full in body with a creamy-syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice ale. The maple imparts an enjoyable, complex sweetness up front. The anise in the finish clashed a bit with the maple sweetness. A decent beer worth another try. 2010-09-11

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy copper-orange with an average size frothy tan head. Aroma of ’bottle’ or ’metal’ that I get in most beers with maple syrup, along with maple syrup (of course), caramel malt, some sugary sweetness, alcohol and just a bit of spice. Sweet and yeasty flavour along with sugary malt, maple syrup, light hops and some alcohol in the finish. Average bodied. I found this just O.K.
