Bottle thanks to Arch. Top pops and whoosh. Big gusher. Lost about 1/3 of bottle. Rest pours black with brown head. No noticeable signs of infection in nose or taste. Solid all around stout - lots of roasted black and chocolate malts, coffee beans and vanilla. Body a little on the thin side. Slight overcarbonation, but not as much as you’d expect given the gushing.

16.9 oz bottle. Pours a very dark black body with a small fizzy and frothy light brown head that retained as a thin covering. The nose is very roasty and slightly sweet with some dark fruits, lots of milk and dark chocolate, and a slightly earthy yeastiness. The flavor is a touch too astringent and burnt for me, but it has good depth and there are still some nice chocolate and coffee notes that make it past. I like the slight earthy flavor that lingers on the finish, it almost reminds me of that last sip of your coffee when it’s made with a french press and has those very silt like grounds. Medium to full bodied with soft fizzy carbonation, nice length to the finish. Overall it’s a pretty decent beer, especially after you get more accustomed to that slight astringency problem. I like it.

Couleur très noire avec mousse foncée et crémeuse. Légèrement "surette" avec un arrière-goût cacao. Agérable à l’oeil, au nez et au gout!

500ml boutielle. 7.5% ABV. Pours opaque black with tan head, tight and resilient. Mocha, coffee, chocolate and burnt caramel/toffee. Grassy hop notes also present. Medium body, complex flavours, not balanced, but effective - milky hot chocolate and hints of ovaltine, hop flavours are well present among the hefty sweet malt body, finishes with a touch of smokiness. Rather satisfying.

Bouteille 500 ml. 7.5%. Couleur noire opaque. Mousse beige-brune persistante. Arômes de malt torréfie, café et chocolat noir. En bouche, elle est très douce, bel équilibre, notes d’espresso et un peu de chocolat noir amer. Finale avec une amertume honnête. Très bon stout.

Pours real dark with a real brown head. Nose of creamy mint chocolate with some burnt-ness. Flavour is similar with with more creamy chocolate and some bitterness. This is a great beer, one of the better stouts, not that big too considering the percentage on this bad boy.

Purchased at the Marché Omni in Aylmer, QC and says 7.5 % ABV on label. Pours a very dark, almost black colour, with very little red highlights. Nice brown creamy head, but retention is rather average and lacing is hard to find. Hop seems to take over the smell, over the burnt malt, coffee and butterscotch. After a while, the hop disappears and a bit of the alcohol surfaces. Very smooth mouthfeel, quite creamy and silky with the alcohol, very well-hidden. The taste shows more, the burnt malt lingering into the aftertaste. Not as sweet as the nose gives out to be. A nicely balanced bitterness. Pretty good strong stout that goes down easily. A bit too easily.
