500ml bottle. Okay, that looks pretty damned awesome - like motor oil with a large lasting brown creamy head (4+). Smells great too, moderate alcohol, burnt treacle, mint, anise, soft light herbal bitterness ... nice balance, slightly sweet. The taste follows - dusty dryness to the malt, the alcohol takes a bit to build; it’s there but well-restrained .... light cream and mint emerge more as the carbonized malt fades back, and I get a bit of earthy saltiness too - really well-balanced. Lush, but not heavy mouthfeel, very soft, almost airy - mild carbonation, and a little alcohol dryness in the finish. An amazingly well-made impy stout, why did I wait so long to drink this???

500 mL bottle, aged one year. The aroma has a nice edge to it - lots of coffee and some roast and even a bit of booze. Nice. The flavour doesn’t offer anything until about midway through, when roast, smoke, and caramel come through. Body is a little thin until the end. Finishes well. Lotsa roasty bitterness. Nice stout.

[2760-20100213] 500mL bottle. Rich mousse roast aroma has nice woody fruits. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy brown head. Roasted coffee malt flavour has rich coffee notes. Full body. A great surprise, very drinkable. Could be I’m being influenced by the birthday party setting but it was quite good.

2010-02-13. Black body with a modest tan head that fades quickly. 3+ Alcoholic roasty dark malt aroma is pleasant. 7+ Flavour is also pleasant, dry roast highlights, rich dark malt core, good amount of bitterness throughout. 7+ Smooth medium bodied palate. 3+ A pretty solid stout. Simple yet effective, it has stood up well to a few months in the cellar. Bottle from Marches de Saveurs, Montreal

Bottle. Black liquid with a nice chocolate cream head. Dark chocolate and cocoa aroma. Creamy with a tinny edge. Lots of chocolate and bitter coffee. Finish has lots of cocoa.

500ml bottle. Pours black with a medium brown head. Nice looking brew ! Nose is a bit roasty and hoppy. Some sweetness also. Taste is dark chocolate, roasted malt and a bit hoppy. Finish is roasted malt and chocolate. Carbonation is really soft. Taste gets less hoppy and more roasty with time (which is better in this case). Gets a bit buttery at the end. Maybe it was a bit old.

500 ml bottle via Lubiere, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fair mocha head. Aroma: Tons of deep-roasted coffee, some dark chocolate, so much dark malt!, a touch of fruitiness and soy sauce/brine, a wee hint of tang, a very big nose for a standard stout... Palate: Medium+ body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Lots of good black coffee and dark chocolate, cocoa, some light brightness, a touch of fruitiness, slight brine/soy sauce, a little hops and a wee bit of alcohol; almost dry with mild bitterness.

Wow, this is nice stuff. Looking forward to trying their other products.

7,5% ABV brew with the new label. Good stout, quite an imperial stout to me, but the simple "stout", or "extra-stout" (who really decides and who really cares?) could be right if it means a less thick and less foamy texture, a less complex taste, as in this one. Medium-intensity hop bitterness. Good, not great...
