Bottle. I wasn’t terribly happy when I popped the cap and was greeted by a massive explosion of pitch black beer all over my counter... I’m just glad I opened this in the kitchen and not the living room like usual. Very, very dark black beer with a stick dark brown head. Aroma is great... lots of sweet fudgey aroma, milk chocolate and other chewy dark malts. A touch of sweet fruit. Softly sweet with a long lingering cocoa finish. A bit of chewy roastiness on the back that works pretty well actually. Lingering soft roast.

A deep intense dark stout with a dark dark moka head. Very pleasant sweet chocolate and coffee aroma, fruity, lightly hopped, with light wafting alcohol. In mouth, a very rich stout, with good bitter chocolate, well balanced with light sweet notes, cold coffee, nice hops bitterness and roastiness. A very surprising and well done stout, veering on Imperial territory.

Tres bonne. Out of the ordinairy stout; borderline to be an impy. Great maltiness, lots of roastiness, coffee, chocolate, with some caramel and grainy notes. Well hopped too. Very good.

Pours black with small and dissipitating brown head. Looks thick, full roasted barley/coffee aroma. The taste is with above average mouthfeel. Straight out roast, not bad at all. But 500 ml. was way too much. One dimensional taste and without complexity, decent malt backing.

The pour reveals a pitch black color with a thick, light brown head. Solid aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and molasses. Very good flavor of roasted malt, chocolate and molasses, the roasted malt provides a solid bitterness in the end. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. This is my favorite from this brewery so far and it’s a sign of interesting things to come.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Firm chocolate and roasted malts build a healthy mouthfeel where molasses and roasty bitterness happily thrive, creating a very efficient and tasty Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Thick foam settles and laces atop the opaque blackness.
-The sparkling carbonation is a tad too much for the body. Not a big problem, but the body could be improved upon by decreasing the bubble level.
-The flavor profile is well balanced.
-This remains very drinkable throughout, even though it is 7%. This is my favorite from them so far!

From the bottle and from the tap at the brewery pub.

(Bottle). Bitter chocolate and malt aroma. Black in color with large fluffy dark brown head. Flavor is full of malt and bitter-sweetness. The finish is a little abbreviated, but otherwise a really good stout.
