Aroma is yeast, hops and a little fruity. Creamy, dry mouthful. Flavour is quite mild - citrus, orange, malt, with a yeasty aftertaste. Quite nice, but overrated. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Smells lightly of maltiness and fruit, banana slightly. Very unusual colour, reddish orange, coppery but not quite golden. Nice head retention. Very nice malt flavour complemented by citrus fruit flavour at the end, the yeast is sooo smooth on the palate. Quite nice, a bit of an unusual aftertaste, I’m told its the betton-nemyasis yest, theres no way I spelled that right. Quite a nice brew. Gustav1996 (15), Birmingham, Alabama, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange/amber with a beautiful thick head. Aroma of yeast, citrus... and very flowery. Taste is citrus, bananas and a little spice. Also, has a small but pleasant bitter aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Excellent beer! coldmeat23 (185), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Very nice, totally golden liquid with a slight orange tint. Two-finger head of dense white foam with excellent retention and amazing lacing.
Smell is spicey and yeasty. Fresh baked banana bread. Slight notes of white fruits. Honey and floral notes mingle with hints of citrus.
Not at all bold, but delicious smelling, and inviting, nonetheless.
This is a different kind of trappist ale. All of the regular expected characteristics are there. Nice spicey flavors. Hints of banana and cloves. Honey sweetened yeast notes. Nice floral/citrus notes.
Holding the whole thing together, though, is a funky sourness. Somewhat like a ’Flanders Belgian Ale’. Very interesting, and very good.
As any good belbian ale should be, this one is smooth and creamy with lots of tight, tiny little bubbles.
This is a highly drinkable brew, but I would keep it in mind as an ’alternate’, not as my ’go to’ for belgian ales. Extremely nice when you want something a little bit different.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Bottle . Pour is a cloudy glowing orange with a foamy head, very carbonated. aroma is tart bitter and fruity. There are notes of hops and light citrus as well, but not overly abundant. A bit fizzy with dry finish. seems from other reviewers my beer was most likely exposed to heat with travel. dated from the early january in 09 italarican (163), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Bottled on 02/20/08. Pours a full, vibrant reddish orange with thick, slightly foamy eggshell white. Some beautiful lacing throughout. Aroma of banana, wheat, lemon, brett, and a touch of strawberry. The aroma is like a hybrid of a sour ale and a hefeweizen. Subtle flavor profile of citrus, orange peel, aged cheese. Very dry with lots of brett in the finish. It’s oddly addicting despite being so subdued.
