For sure one of the best beers in the world - prefer it with a bit of age but is awesome whatever the age.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 BlackIPA (199) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 22, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2011 Bottled 11/17/2010, this makes it almost 1 year old. Pours a cloudy amber with a ridiculously large head. I pause to reflect upon it, this miracle in a glass... I wonder, do the monks (or whoever makes this) know how many people’s lives have been changed for the better by drinking this beer? As this thought passes my mind, I throw caution to the wind and pour the entire bottle into the glass, dregs and all. I get two dark brown lumps on the top of the pillowy head... one for me and one for you. Now it is down to just me and the beer. I swirl the glass ever so slightly and place my nose as close to the head as I can without touching it, and what I smell is just...magical. It is like God’s perfume. Citrus, apple, hay, funk and yeast make up this magical medicine. I raise the glass to my lips expecting the world to end once I taste this elixir and... well the world can just go on turning without me because I have fallen in love with this sweet, indulgent fluid. Words cannot describe what has happened here. This could be the best beer on the planet.

Color ambar con espuma ligera aromas a levadura con un final sutil a lupulo, clasico entre las trapistas.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 turbothy (937) - Bonn, GERMANY - OCT 21, 2011
Got this after my friend unwittingly bought a round of Jupiler, and boy, does that showcase the difference between a lager and a proper beer. Pours slightly foggy brown with small head. Fruity/malty aroma, taste is malty with a quite lively carbonation. Good, but not fantastic.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 beardfear (87) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 19, 2011
Young bottle dated June 2010. Colour is somewhere between straw and amber, with an impressive, well-retaining white head. Enticing bouquet: Peach, citrus, apple and perfume alongside wilder, mustier aromas of barnyard and straw. Unique amongst trappist beers, but also unique among Belgian sours I’ve tried - unlike sweet Flemish reds and browns it is bone-dry, and unlike lambic its brett sourness - while being undoubtedly present - is kept on a leash and isn’t allowed to overwhelm the other flavours. Carbonation is heavier than usual, which helps carry the unusual sour qualities. Medium body. A bit drier than my usual taste, but a must-try.

Bottle from corte ingles, lisbon. Great beer. Beautifully balanced, easy drinkable and yet, very rich.

Pours clear/hazy light copper. Extremely intense head. Doesn’t look really think, though. Good retention.
Aroma is mainly yeast -- apple esters galore! -- and herbal hops. Taste is more balanced than what aroma suggests : much more malty, actually. Really dry -- a summer trappist, actually?
Problem is : never, ever drink this one cold. Extremely thin body + a cabonation that seems to kick a lot at cold temperature makes if for an extremely bland experience. This is a beer that’s better drank over 10 degrees, and, really, dont waste time drinking it cold. So, a good hour after the first sip... much better, but still a bit too thin for my tastes. Overall --- it’s good, but I was disappointed.
