Commercial Description:
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.
Bottled at 5.2% abv - can go up as high as 7.2%

Not the best beer, but good taste. It looks very hazy so it doesn’t look attractive to me. It tastes very dry. Good beer, but nothing more then that.

Very tall creamy off-white head on an orange body. Beautiful beer! Aroma is not too heavy with notes of fruit, citrus and hops of course! Flavor is very dry and hoppy with fruit and some citrus. A nice and refreshing but quite different beer!

Pours semi-cloudy golden orange. Aroma is orange, lemon, wheat, vanilla, and caramel. Very fizzy in the mouth with an almost sour taste that is wheat and lemon and maybe sour apple. Very unique beer and very good.

Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar (Escondido, CA). Pours into Chimay goblet a golden orange-brown. Huge fluffy white head with very impressive staying power. Bright and sweet aroma of yeast, zesty citrus (lemon, tangerine), and spice. Flavor includes the same things found in the nose but more bitterness than sweetness. Definitely more hops here than in other Trappists, and the taste seems to be somewhat more toward a good IPA as much a Trappist ale.

A very disapointing beer. Over carbonated, and far too bitter (coming from someone from Britain, used to bitters).

Cloudy orange pour with super lively carbonation. Intensely huge tan head with serious lacing. After about 2 minutes it diminished to a 2 finger head and eventually about a 1/4 inch head. The aroma is a slightly sour cherry/yeasty sourness confection with a medium bubbly mouthfeel. The lemony/skunky taste and smell is in fact quite refreshing.

The one I had needed to age a little longer, but the carb was great and the flavor left you thinking. Not even close to my favorite style, yet I loved it. That said something to me.

Beautiful head, fine-medium tall head, golden clear fluid. Pine aroma, fruits. Quite flat on the tongue, but watery, with alcohol induced mouthwatering at the end - in a nice way. A little sour. And not bitter. Refreshing, but could do with some fizz. In someways it is like a good pilsner. At the end of the bottle it seems mostly watery and less interesting. Harmless. Purchased for 17dkr in SuperBrugsen.
